Nancy launched the Devon Foundation to support lapidary schools in Africa, including the Arusha Vocational School in Tanzania. The foundation provides scholarships for African lapidary students, many of whom are women. The foundation is now helping to expand the Arusha School and will be provid- ing new equipment. Nancy says that a new Tanzanian law requires that all gems mined in that country must be cut before exportation. As a result, demand for those with lapidary skills is on the rise.
