This popular event will be held in the parking lot at the Masonic Temple located at the corner of Lake Street and North Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey The sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sale items will include over 100 varieties of heirloom tomato plants and a good selection of herb, pepper, eggplant, squash, and cucumber plants. This year, some of the tomato varieties will include: black pineapple, cherry falls, honey bunch, and ruby gold. The club will again offer the famous Ramapo, Moreton, and Rutgers varieties. School to host annual Car Show Ramsey High School will host its Third Annual Car Show on Saturday, May 18. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 256 East Main Street. (Rain date: May 19.) The event will feature trophies, and food available for purchase. Spectators will be admitted free of charge. The cost to pre-register a car is $10. That fee will rise to $15 the day of the show. Proceeds from this event will benefit the high school’s auto shop. Library announces events The Ramsey Public Library has announced its schedule of May programs. The library is located at 30 Wyckoff Avenue. Local author Louis Alexander will present a “Write Your Story” workshop on Thursday, May 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. Alexander, an adjunct professor at Rutgers and Fairleigh Dickinson universities, will lead this session on how to write a narrative that may be shared with one’s children and grandchildren. Alexander wrote his own memoir describing his youth growing up in the 1930s and 1940s in the small town of Hague on the northern end of Lake George. He now lives in northern New Jersey. Registration for this program is encouraged, but drop-ins are welcome. On May 7, senior citizens are invited a Seniors Computer Class from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Attendees may bring their own laptop or borrow one from the library. Registration is not required. Learn how to sell on eBay on Wednesday, May, 15 at 7 p.m. Rick Feingold will present tips on how the website operates, what kinds of items will sell, and how to price, market, bid, and receive payment. Feingold is an eBay store operator and eBay PowerSeller. Registration is required. Ramsey students in grades six and up are invited to Friday Frenzy on May 17 from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. The program will feature ice cream sundaes, gaming, crafts, and extra door prizes. Signup is not required. On May 19, the Kootz Band will perform a rock and roll concert from 2 to 3:30 p.m. This free concert is sponsored by the Friends of Ramsey Library. Music director to perform concert Dr. Paul Undreiner, music director at the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey, will perform a concert of original compositions on May 5 at 3 p.m. Guest artists will also be performing. Undreiner has written many pieces for the church’s chancel and Agape Handbell choirs. He received his Ph.D. in music theory and composition from Rutgers University, and currently sits on the faculty of the Mason Gross School of the Arts. Undreiner has studied, conducted, and performed around the world. Tickets are $10 per person and the proceeds will be dedicated to the support the church’s music fund. Club announces Annual Plant Sale The Ramsey Area Garden Club will hold its Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Old Ramsey Train Station off Main Street. A large variety of annuals and perennials from members and professional growers will be for sale. Hanging baskets, houseplants, and special Mothers Day gift baskets will also be available. Juniors plan meeting, seek donations The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey will meet on Thursday, May 9 at the Ramsey Ambulance Corps Building at 41 North Island Avenue. On May 11, the membership will hold its Second Annual Tag Sale and Bake Sale. All proceeds from this event will be donated to civic organizations in Ramsey. Leisure Club plans activities Ramsey’s Leisure Club will host a three-day bus trip to the Tulip Festival in Albany May 9 through 11. The trip will include a visit to the Saratoga Casino and Raceway, two nights lodging, two breakfasts, and two dinners. Participants will attend the Tulip Festival ceremonies, which include musical performers and the crowning of the Tulip Queen at Washington Park. An estimated 100,000 tulips will welcome visitors to the events of the day. A tour of the Brotherhood Winery will complete the itinerary.
