Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES Business IV • March 20, 2013 Foundation awards $20,000 to Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation recently awarded a $20,000 grant to Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, Inc. for its Operation New Jersey program. Operation New Jersey was specifically created to support over 1,000 soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen from the 508th Military Police Company in Teaneck and the 117th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion in Lawrenceville – all stationed in Afghanistan – plus other units. The goal of the program is to lift troop morale and welfare. Adopt-a-Soldier has earmarked OritaniBank Charitable Foundation’s $20,000 grant for several initiatives: • $6,000 for Kindle Fire HDs to help “adoptees” communicate back home, for personal entertainment purposes, and for cameras to record their experiences overseas • $4,000 for portable exercise gear from TRX Fitness Anywhere to stay in shape • $5,000 to support the 508th MP Company’s Family Readiness Group in their work to assist families in need, especially after Hurricane Sandy • $5,000 for Christmas/holiday supplies for adoptees and their units down range in Afghanistan “OritaniBank’s grant has given us the ability to provide the kind of outstanding support during the holidays that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to deliver,” said AaSP President Alan Krutchkoff. “It’s an incredible feeling, knowing that these gifts will bring such joy to our brave New Jersey men and women serving in harm’s way! Thanks, OritaniBank!” Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, Inc. (www.adoptasoldierplatoon.org) is a grass roots organization created to improve the morale of U.S. military troops.
