Senior citizens are invited to a free performance on March 20 at 4 p.m. Based on the beloved book by Louisa May Alcott, “Little Women” is the story of the four March sisters. Town-wide Garage Sale seeks participants Mahwah Recreation is seeking residents who would like to participate in the Town-wide Garage Sale set for Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Rain date: April 28.) Residents who wish to participate may reserve a space at the municipal building parking lot at 475 Corporate Drive. Participants may set up their own tables from 8 to 9 a.m. the day of the sale. No merchandise may be left at the location at the end of the day. Residents who wish to hold a sale at their home may choose to be included on the master map of participants. Library hosts varied programs The Mahwah Public Library provides free programs for adults. Tickets are not necessary; seating is available on a “first come” basis. On March 20, learn about elder abuse from a speaker from SAAFE (Save Abused and Frail Elderly) This 7 p.m. program is for anyone who has an older loved one, relative, or neighbor. Learn the signs of elder abuse. Often unreported, this mistreatment may be financial, emotional, or sexual. It can be neglect or self-neglect. Information will be provided on what can be done to prevent abuse and what to do if a problem is suspected. On March 24, M&M Productions will present “God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza translated by Christopher Hampton. The 2 p.m. performance deals with a playground altercation between two 11-year-old boys. The incident brings together two sets of parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. Harraka told the council he was working under the assumption that the police chief authorized the overtime. He also told the council he does not need police officers in court for the initial hearing of summonses because he has the authority to dismiss many of those summonses after pleading them down to a lesser charge with the defendants.
