Indoor market to close for season The last indoor session of the Ramsey Farmers Market will be held March 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Eric Smith School, 73 Monroe Street in Ramsey. Market followers can stock up on all their favorites from over 20 farmers and food purveyors, featuring artisanal breads and cheeses, organic and traditional produce, local honey, homemade pastas, sauces and soups, organic prepared foods, yak and llama wear and meat, free range eggs, pasture raised/antibiotic free meats, freshly baked goods (including gluten free baked goods and pastas), artisanal coffees, gourmet teas, pickles, nuts, and much more. The outdoor market’s fourth season will open June 2, and will be held along with the Strawberry Festival hosted by the Woman’s Club of Ramsey. The Ramsey Farmers Market is held every Sunday, June through November, from 9 to 2 at the Ramsey Main Street train station. Each week, area residents visit the market for the best local, fresh produce and products, music, children’s crafts, festivals, and more. The Ramsey Farmers Market is sponsored by the Ramsey Historical Association and supported by the Borough of Ramsey. Networking event announced Abbott & Caserta Realtors will host a Business Card Exchange on Thursday, March 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Boom Burger, 180 Route 17 South in Mahwah. This networking event will include professionals from many different industries. Admission is $15 cash, and is payable at the door. The cost of admission includes appetizers and one beverage. RBARI partners with storage facility Access Self Storage of Franklin Lakes has become a designated pet supply donation drop-off site for the RamapoBergen Animal Refuge, Inc. RBARI, a no-kill animal shelter based in Oakland, has a current wish list posted at www.rbari.org. Donors who use the Franklin Lakes drop-off site will be eligible to participate in a contest for a free month of storage. Winners will be chosen every other month. Opera company sets spring production The Garden State Opera, now in its eleventh season, will perform selected scenes from Mozart’s “Cosi fan tutte” and “L’oca del Cairo” on Saturday, April 6 at 8 p.m. The program will be held at the San Giuseppe Santa Croce Camerina Society at 131 Wagaraw Road in Hawthorne. Waldwick artist Andrea Mistretta was invited by UNICO National to exhibit her Carnivalesque art and sign her book, ‘Mardi Gras Parade of Posters,’ at UNICO’s Rediscover Your Italian Heritage Fair at Sacred Heart Church in Rochelle Park. The event was sponsored by UNICO Saddle Brook and featured live music, an Italian language lesson, art, foods of Italy, historical and cultural displays, and a lecture and video presentation. Proceeds from Mistretta’s poster sales at the event benefited UNICO’s charities, including The Jimmy V Foundation and Cooley’s anemia research.
