The library has five Kindle Paperwhites available. Each Kindle Paperwhite is loaded with over 40 titles, ranging from classics such as Charlotte Bronte’s “Jane Eyre” to contemporary fiction and non-fiction best-sellers like “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn. Library cardholders may borrow a Kindle for two weeks and may renew it for an additional two weeks, provided there is no one waiting for a device. To borrow an eReader, Mahwah residents must have a valid Mahwah Library card, be at least 18 years old, and may not have any outstanding fines or overdue items. The library has offered eBooks through the Bergen eAudio Team (“BeAT”) services for several years. Recently, the Bergen County Cooperative Library System launched its “eBCCLS” eBook service, which allows library patrons throughout the county access to eBooks. This event will begin at 1 p.m. An afternoon of fun is planned for the entire family. The festival will be held rain or shine at the park, which is located at 550 Ramapo Valley Road. Chamber sets Luncheon & Membership Meeting Bruce Haffty, MD will address the Mahwah Chamber of Commerce Luncheon & Membership Meeting on Friday, March 22. The event, which will begin at 11:30 a.m., will be held at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel at One International Boulevard in Mahwah. Certified with the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Haffty is a graduate of the Yale University School of Medicine. He specializes in head and neck cancer, and has coauthored several publications on the effects of radiotherapy. School to perform ‘Beauty and the Beast Junior’ The Ramapo Ridge Middle School will present Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast Junior” on March 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. There will be a free performance for senior citizens on Thursday, March 14 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Celebrate Holi at Hindu Samaj Temple The Hindu Samaj Temple and Community Center will present a Carnival of Colors on Saturday, March 23 at the temple located at 247 West Ramapo Avenue in Mahwah. The temple will celebrate the spring festival of Holi with a day of activities including a magician, carnival ride, arts and crafts, face painting, tattoos, air hockey, table tennis competitions, food, and the actual playing of Holi. Foundation seeks scholarship applicants The Mahwah Schools Foundation will award two scholarships of $2,000 each to one female and one male Mahwah High School senior planning to pursue a college education. Applicants should be well-rounded, ambitious, and of good character. All students are eligible as long as the total scholarship awards they have been awarded do not exceed 75 percent of their expected college tuition, room, board, and fees.
