IV • March 6, 2013 Dorothy J. Carroll, nee Roth, of Mahwah, formerly of Fort Lee, died Feb. 23. She was 78. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and received a bachelor’s degree in education from William Paterson University. She was employed by Bergen County Special Services as a special education teacher. She is survived by her son John C. Carroll, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and her brother Robert Charles Roth. Arrangements were made by Becker Funeral Home in Westwood. Shelley Anne Meeler, nee Snyder, of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Wyckoff and Burlington, North Carolina, died Feb. 19. She was 56. She was a bookkeeper in the restaurant industry for over 30 years. She was assistant manager at a CVS in Vero Beach. She is survived by her children Rachel Elizabeth Wright, Kristin Eleanor Chapman, and Charity Mae Meeler, her mother Eleanor Snyder, and her siblings Stephen and Ralph Snyder, and Daryl-Lynn Bolden. He was 89. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and served time as a prisoner of war in Germany. He received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Victory Medal. He was a retired steam fitter, employed by Union Local 638 in New York, New York. He was a member of Waldwick’s American Legion Post. He is survived by his wife Veronica (Moore) Moran, his children Pat Ret of Ridgewood and Harold Moran of Brentwood, New York, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Muriel Murray, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, formerly of Ramsey, died Feb. 24. She was 93. She is survived by her children Richard N. Murray Jr., Muriel (Bunny) Lewellyn, Donna Timboe, and Robin Diehl, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sister Mildred Hawkes. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Before retiring in 1998, he was a comptroller at Burlington Industries in New York. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #57 and VFW Post #1049. He is survived by his wife Mary, his children Debra Seiter and Thomas O’Leary, five grandchildren, and his brothers Timothy O’Leary and Kevin O’Leary.

Arthur W. Bledsoe of Mahwah, formerly of Pittsburgh and Bucks County, Pennsylvania, died Feb. 18. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Following his graduation from Pennsbury High School in Yardley, Pennsylvania, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, and a MBA from Temple University. While at the University of Pennsylvania, he was a member of the Mask and Wig Club, ROTC, Taylor Air Society, and Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. After serving 10 years in the Air Force, he held positions with companies including Colgate Palmolive, Singer Corporation, W.R. Grace, and The Corinthian Group during his career in human resources, which spanned over 40 years. He was an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University for several years. He retired from Hoffmann LaRoche in Nutley, where he was assistant vice president/director of compensation and benefits. After his retirement, he formed Bledsoe Consulting, LLC in Franklin Lakes. He provided pro bono human resources consulting services to various organizations, including the Episcopal Diocese of Newark, for which he was presented the Bishop’s Outstanding Service Award from Bishop John S. Spong. He served over 20 years as trustee of Woods Services in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He was a member of Saint John’s Memorial Episcopal Church in Ramsey. He had been a volunteer with Boy Scouts, Little League sports, and other youth activities. He is survived by his wife Alice (Emmy) DeCou Bledsoe, his children Kenneth W. Bledsoe and Cynthia C. Cueto, five grandchildren, and his brother George E. Bledsoe of Bloomington, Indiana. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Later in life, she worked in the Ramsey school system in the cafeteria for many years. She was active with the Friends of the Adornos and Saint Paul’s Church in Ramsey. She is survived by her children Chris McCombs, Lucille Muzio, Paul J. Carnevale, and Gerard Carnevale, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Ben Feula, Antoinette Stravato, and Filomena Stravato. She was predeceased by her husband Paul Carnevale. He is survived by his wife Bethel “Beth” (Yerdon) Robertson, his son Shawn Dudley, daughters-in-law Mina and Elnora, stepdaughter Brenda Crandall, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Anthony “Tony” Salafia of Upper Saddle River, formerly of Waldwick, died Feb. 25. He was 91. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He started his own construction company, Orchard Properties, LLC, building homes and commercial buildings throughout Bergen County for almost 50 years. He is survived by his daughters Joan Gundersen of Mahwah, Carole Grisafi of Woodcliff Lake, and Nancy Smith of Mahwah, three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, and his sisters-in-law Ann Esposito of Saddle River and Victoria Gudger of Toms River. Turner of Allendale, formerly of Paterson, died Feb. 24. He was 86. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a contractor in the building construction trades for nearly 50 years, and recently served as a crossing guard in the Borough of Allendale. He was a member of the Allendale Ambulance Corps and the VFW. Robert L. Turner of Ringwood, Bruce Turner of South Amboy, and Richard Turner of Allendale, six grandchildren, and his sisters Joan Brizzi of Passaic, Virginia Welch of River Edge, and Barbara Turner of Fair Lawn.
