The Mahwah Senior Center, located at 475 Corporate Drive is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year. This upbeat gathering place for township seniors and their families, caregivers, elder service providers, and the community at large, is located in town hall. The center, with its strong belief in vitality at all ages, places significant emphasis on health and wellness programming, intergenerational events, fitness, support groups of many kinds, arts & crafts classes, multi-cultural programs, computer classes, and various other educational and recreational activities. the center’s library, computer area, games, and art exhibits. Lunch is provided one day a month. A free monthly calendar lists all of the center’s activities, menus, and programs for that month. Seniors may also come to the center for assistance with personal matters to obtain information and support from the Elder Affairs staff and from partnering organizations that provide services including veterans’ assistance, health insurance counseling, tax return preparation, legal assistance, and individual client advocacy. The center, which receives its core funding from the Township of Mahwah, maintains a multi-cultural atmo-

Representative Scott Garrett (NJ-05) recently recognized Mahwah High School junior Julia Bauer for participating in the 2013 Congressional Art Competition. Rep. Garrett was honored to present this year’s participants with their certificates and awards at a ceremony at Ramapo College. “I want to congratulate Julia Bauer for placing fourth in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. Julia is an incredibly talented young woman and one of Northern New Jersey’s best young artists. It was a pleasure having her showcase her work for the Fifth District.”
