Bank hosts Kilmer exhibit
Dedicated volunteer
For 26 years, Ramsey Realtor Carol Rose Volpe from Abbott & Caserta Realtors has been planting American flags on local streets to remind area residents of the ultimate sacrifice members of the military provide so everyone can be free. Volpe dedicates her time to this project for the Memorial Day and July 4 holidays.
Patricia Langdale, branch manager of Boiling Springs Savings Bank in Mahwah, and Donna Fogarty, assistant branch manager, admire the Joyce Kilmer Historical Exhibit in the lobby of the Mahwah branch located at 6 East Ramapo Avenue.
Boiling Springs Savings Bank in Mahwah will display the Joyce Kilmer Historical Exhibit at 6 East Ramapo Avenue through June 29. The display features the poet Joyce Kilmer’s five years in Mahwah, including his writing of the famous poem “Trees,” in his house at the southwest corner of Airmount and Armour roads 100 years ago. Enlarged pictures, sponsored by the Joyce Kilmer Society of Mahwah, show the society’s discovery of Kilmer’s notebook in
which he wrote “Trees” and other poems, and a letter by Kilmer’s widow Aline, stating that “Trees” was written in an upstairs room of the Mahwah house in which there was a desk by a window that overlooked a wooded hill.
