Ramsey High School senior Danielle Fowler has received the prestigious Youth Leadership Award from Caron Institute. Fowler accepted the honor at a ceremony in Manhattan that was attended by 200 professionals. The award is presented to an outstanding high school student from the New York/New Jersey area who has demonstrated community leadership. Fowler was selected due to her long-term volunteer work and community efforts with the Ramsey Police Department’s DARE program. Fowler has distinguished herself as an accomplished athlete and honor student, but it was not her own promising future that gained the attention of the Caron Institute. Fowler was chosen for her investment in the future of others. Three years ago, Fowler became active in the Ramsey Police Department Youth Leadership Program. In addition to volunteering at events, she decided to develop an antibullying program for the younger students. She served as a mentor, providing guidance to students at the middle school and high school. She also authored a revealing blog post for the RamseyRocks.org website in which she discussed the tough lessons she has learned. In addition, she served as a role model, speaking to children as young as 10 years old about how their decisions will affect their future. She also became the Ramsey High School’s student chair for the Relay for Life cancer fundraiser in Ramsey. Her greatest challenge was the Ramsey High School’s (continued on page 27)

The Prince of Peace Prayer Group at Saint Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey will host the summer Archdiocesan “Morning of the Holy Spirit” on Saturday, June 22. The program will be held at the church at 200 Wyckoff Avenue. The morning will begin with Mass at 9 a.m. celebrated by Father Jim White, followed by breakfast in the school cafeteria.
