June 12, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 27 Ramsey Review Group to discuss ‘Mrs. Astor Regrets’ The Connections Book Group at First Presbyterian Church in Ramsey will discuss Meryl Gordon’s “Mrs. Astor Regrets” on June 19. In 2007, Anthony Marshall was indicted for misuse of his mother Brooke Astor’s fortune, leading to an unheard of scrutiny of America’s discreet aristocracy. The author sifts through the extended Astor family history, from Brooke’s disastrous first marriage at age 17 to her dazzling reinvention in her 50s as the celebrity widow of Vincent Astor firmly ensconced at the helm of the venerable Astor Foundation. The discussion will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Metzger Room at the church at 15 Shuart Lane. All are welcome. For more information, call Di French at (201) 327-4596. Books are available at the Ramsey Library at 30 Wyckoff Avenue. Danielle Fowler (continued from page 7) SADD (Student’s Against Destructive Decisions) organization, which recently fell on tough times. Plagued by low turnout and false starts, the once influential student action club ceased to exist during the 2012-13 school year. Fowler decided it was time for a change. She worked with school officials, hosted meetings, engaged the school community, and breathed new life into the club. At present, the club has over 20 enthusiastic members, has elected an executive board, established its own Facebook group, help put drugfree messaging on the high school TVs, and is planning its first fundraiser and charging hard toward its first big event slated for October 2013. Fowler may be graduating this month, but she has left a clear path for others to follow. “Greatness is surely in store for Danni, but she’s been able to gift some of that greatness to others, who will no doubt do the same,” said Ramsey DARE Officer Timothy Shoemaker. “It’s no wonder the Caron Institute was so impressed with her leadership. Incidentally, Danielle will also be receiving the first ever Raymond P. Bailey Scholarship award on June 12, named after one of Ramsey’s most cherished and influential police officers. The Ramsey Police Department congratulates Danni Fowler on her incredible accomplishments.”
