Scout renovates basement at borough church
Alec Welsh recently finished his Eagle Scout service project at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Ramsey. Welsh’s project involved the complete renovation of a dark, unorganized basement. Improvements included the installation of a new laminate floor and new lights, painting of the entire space, and the construction of wood shelves and a workbench. This work transformed an under-utilized area into a clean, efficient, and user-friendly work environment with maximum storage. At press time, Welsh was due to receive his Eagle designation, along with Troop 31 Eagle Scouts Robert Bailey, Justin Larkin, Matthew Lynch, and Kevin Sroczynski.

On Wednesday, May 29, the Ramsey Police Department was dispatched to 6 Talina Court for a structure fire, with a party possibly trapped inside. Responding Ramsey officers entered the residence through the front door and found a heavy smoke condition. Fire personnel made entry into the house and found a lone female victim on a couch in the living room. The

At press time, an autopsy was scheduled at the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office in New York. Police said there does not appear to be any criminal culpability involved. The source of the fire may have come from a faulty kitchen dishwasher, police said, adding that the matter remains under investigation.
