She graduated from Hunter High School and Hunter College in New York City, and was a teacher in the South Bronx for 11 years before she opened the Lollipop Nursery School in 1959. She is survived by her son James Angelillo, four grandchildren, and her sister Jean Lynch. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas and her sister Audrey Kehoe. She was a travel advisor and co-owner of Bear’s Nest Travel in Park Ridge. She is survived by her husband Kenneth J. and sons Kenneth G. of Delray Beach, Florida and Jason R. of Hasbrouck Heights. She graduated from South Eastern High School and Mount Carmel Mercy College, both in Detroit, Michigan, and became a registered nurse. She was a surgical nurse at Mercy Hospital in Detroit and at Montclair Hospital in Montclair. Before retiring in 1996, she was the corporate secretary and office manager for D&B Engineering Corporation. She is survived by her children T.J. Driscoll, Cathlyn Driscoll, and Judith Gilbert, and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Timothy Driscoll and her brother Lester Pitt. Gerard W. “Jerry” Purcell of Allendale, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, died May 25. He was 76. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Allendale and a 50-year member of the Genesis Masonic Lodge in Brooklyn. He is survived by his wife Eileen (nee Loerch) of Allendale, his children Denise Down of West Milford and Doug Purcell of Ramsey, and three grandchildren. Alfred Rosen of Mahwah died May 25. He was 83. He is survived by his children Karen, Ellen, and Wendy Rosen; his stepchildren Michael, Dennis, Joe, and Kevin Gaston; and three grandchildren. She was an activist, humanitarian, and artist. She was a member of the Oil Painters of America, The American Artists Professional League, and Allied Artists. Her work has been exhibited at the Ridgewood Art Institute, the Ridgewood and Oradell libraries, The Art Students League of New York, and several other venues. She was responsible for publicizing the heroic efforts of Varian Fry, a former Ridgewood resident who saved many individuals from the Holocaust. Because of her efforts, a Ridgewood street was named in Fry’s honor, the Varian Fry Humanitarian Schol- Marilyn Foote Eric Christian memorial announced On June 8, the Borough of Ramsey will hold a procession for U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant Eric Christian, a former borough resident who was killed in action in Afghanistan on May 4. The procession will begin at 11:30 a.m. from the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer at 55 Wyckoff Avenue and proceed up Main Street to Veterans Memorial Park. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Ridgewood Country Club. He is survived by his children Emily Carlin of Jersey City, William Taylor of Glen Rock, and Margaret Skriloff of Mount Kisco, New York.
