Betty Ann L. Glasgow of North Andover, Massachusetts, formerly of Mahwah and Orleans, Massachusetts, died July 4. She was 86. She attended North Park Junior College in Chicago, Illinois, and received her bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education from Springfield College. She is survived by her husband Theodore A. Glasgow, and her daughters Lisa Whittle of Oakland and Betsey Pashayan of North Andover, Massachusetts, and five grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street in North Andover, Massachusetts. J. Walter “Walt” Keady Jr. of Ridgewood died July 2. He was 86. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He graduated from Mount Carmel Grammar School and Saint Luke’s High School, where he excelled at basketball, and made school history by being named Bergen County high scoring player during his junior and senior years. He graduated from Manhattan College. He was a Certified Financial Planner for Investors Diversified Services and Ameriprise Financial. He retired at age 78. He was a member of the Ramsey Golf and Country Club and a coach for his sons’ Eagles baseball team. He also coached Mahwah Parks and Recreation basketball for his grandson. He is survived by his wife Mary and his children Claire, Kevin, Kathleen, John Walter, Christopher, and Mary Carroll. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and his sister Eleanor Askins. He was predeceased by his parents John Walter and Nellie (Meagher) Keady and his sister Angela. Arrangements were made by Vander Platt Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Church Eucharistic Ministry Team, 200 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, NJ. James D. McGurty Jr. of Linden, formerly of Teaneck, Bergenfield, Glen Rock, and Hillside, died July 1. He was 91. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Teaneck High School and Fordham University, and earned a master’s in business administration degree from New York University. He was an accountant at National Distillers and Chemical Corp. (later Quantum Chemical Corp.) in midtown Manhattan. In the late 1980s, he was transferred to Frankfort, Kentucky as part of a reorganization and worked there for three years before retiring. After his retirement in 1988, he was a full-time volunteer at Saint Joseph’s Social Service Center in Elizabeth. His special contribution was Project Ready, an innovative program that helps the long-time unemployed prepare to reenter the workplace. He is survived by his wife Maureen and his children James of Brunswick, Maine, Frank of Weehawken, Therese McGurty of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Maureen Rakiey of Mansfield, Massachusetts, Jane McGurty of Ramsey, and Eileen McGurty of Glen Ridge. He received a bachelor’s degree from Widener University (formerly PMC) and an MBA from Adelphi University. He was a banker for 25 years and a financial consultant for more than 20 years. He was a parishioner of Saint Luke’s R.C. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus for over 35 years. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sons Stephen and James, and two grandsons. Before retiring, he was the owner of Allmake Appliance in Teaneck. He was a Holocaust survivor. He was a former member of Temple Beth Sholom in Fair Lawn. He is survived by his wife Diane Meyer, his children Bruce L. Meyer and Kenneth J. Meyer, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Anita Gaillard. Richard William Moore of Upper Saddle River died July 2. He was 92. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had a long career at Sun Chemical (later Facile Technologies) in Paterson, as a product sales manager. He retired at age 72. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Taylor Moore and his sons Richard, Gregory, and Bruce. He is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his sister Florence Moore Renart of New City, New York. He was predeceased by his brothers Charles, John, and Arthur. He was a printer by trade with his father at Moskal Printing in Passaic. He is survived by his wife Darlene (Martone) Moskal and his children Lyndsay Dodds of Pompton Lakes, and Jamie Moskal and Eric Moskal, both of Mahwah. He is also survived by one grandchild, and his siblings Denise Surowitz of Garfield and Edward Puzio, both of Garfield. Genevieve Schmitz, nee Holvoet, of Wyckoff, formerly of Haledon, died July 10. She was 89. Before retiring, she was with Nabisco of Fair Lawn in the packaging department. She is survived by her sons Randy Schmitz, Craig Schmitz, Scott Schmitz, all of California, and Brett Schmitz of Hawthorne. She is also survived by six grandchildren, her brother Emil Holvoet of Glen Rock, and her companion Anthony Herse of Wyckoff. She was predeceased by her husband Donald. She graduated from Hawthorne High School and attended Saint Anthony’s R.C. Church in Hawthorne, Saint Elizabeth’s R.C. Church in Wyckoff, and the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. Before retiring, she was employed by The Valley Hospital in food services. She is survived by her children William Wassel, Stephen Wassel, and Lynn Brooks, and eight grandchildren. She was 74. Before retiring, she was a clerk with A&P food stores and worked at several locations, including Midland Park. She was a member of Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church in Pequannock. She is survived by her husband Robert W. Zuidema, and her children Lynette Leegwater, Paul, and Steven. She is also survived by five grandchildren and her brother Harry Hommes.
