Pindar Council of the Knights of Columbus in Ramsey recently held the annual Altar Server Appreciation Dinner at the K of C Hall on Mechanic Street in Ramsey. The dinner is held in cooperation with Saint Paul parish to recognize the service and dedication of the boys and girls Knights of Columbus recognize altar servers who volunteer to serve at weekend Masses throughout the year. The Saint Paul altar servers are led by Parochial Vicar Reverend Yeongmin (Michael) Kim, who designed special baseball caps that he gave to each of the servers, along with a Certificate of Appreciation Altar servers from Saint Paul Church from the Knights of Columbus. The ceremony followed an introduction and congratulatory remarks from Grand Knight Ron Damato. Each year, the Ramsey Knights of Columbus open the hall to the altar servers and their families to enjoy pizza, hot dogs, salad, snacks, and cake. Before and after everyone ate their fill, the altar servers and their siblings played games indoors and outdoors, including Frisbee, foosball, pool, and shuffleboard, while their parents relaxed and enjoyed refreshments together. The event was coordinated by André Floyd and Ed McDermott, with the help of a team that included Jerry Lynch, Lou Ameres, Rich Riordan, Matt McGrath, Steve Yonkers and Frank Ciminello who manned the grill and served hot dogs and pizza throughout the evening. Terry Picone and Lou Ameres photographed the festivities, and Jarrett Floyd and Joey Calabria compiled an entertaining music mix as a background for the party. Grand Knight Damato said, “It is important to recognize the effort that the children of Saint Paul parish put in to learn the role of serving at Mass and the dedication you exhibit by being at each mass, every weekend, in support of our mutual Catholic faith. We are pleased to offer this appreciation event in honor of your service.”
