Broadway Comes to Wyckoff Avenue Nancy Walsh will sing Broadway show tunes at the Ramsey Public Library on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. Walsh’s stage credits include “The Music Man,” “Carousel,” and “The Sound of Music.” She has appeared with Florence Henderson, Mary Martin, Bernadette Peters, and Shirley Jones. The concert, sponsored by the Friends of Ramsey Library, is free and open to the public. The library is located at 30 Wyckoff Avenue. Library offers programs for adults The Ramsey Public Library, located at 30 Wyckoff Avenue, will host its monthly senior citizen computer class on Sunday, Feb. 3. The class, led by Sophia Xue, will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The library’s laptop computers will be available for class use. Registration is not required. On Feb. 20, the Valley Hospital’s Janet Brancato, M.S., R.D., will share recipes and ideas for cooking for one or two. During this 7 p.m. program, Brancato will offer tips to get past the “why bother” factor and learn how to eat well by spending less time in the kitchen. Pre-registration is encouraged. UNICO hosts ‘That’s Amore Casino Night’ Greater Ramsey UNICO will present its Second Annual “That’s Amore Casino Night” on March 8. The fundraiser will be held at 7 p.m. at the Sheraton Crossroads in Mahwah. Tickets are $75 and include $25 in chips, Texas Hold ‘em and blackjack tournaments, a cash prize, a prize basket fundraiser, an auction, appetizers, dinner, dessert, and beverages. Tickets purchased by Feb. 15 will include an extra $50 in chips. Proceeds will be donated to Ramsey’s emergency services, including the ambulance, rescue and fire squads, and to the Greater Ramsey UNICO’s scholarships and outreach programs. Book group to discuss ‘Wolf Hall’ On Jan. 30, the Literary Ladies of the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey will meet to discuss “Wolf Hall” by Hilary Mantel. Adult School registration under way Registration for the Ramsey Adult School’s spring semester is under way. Seniors announce events The Ramsey Seniors will hold the first luncheon of the year in the senior center in Finch Park on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 11:30 p.m. Please note the new time. Celebrate the Year of the Snake and enjoy a Chinese feast catered by Ya Xing Chinese Restaurant of Ramsey. The event will feature a special performance by the Ramsey Senior Center Tai Chi group. On Feb. 20, the seniors will travel by bus to the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse to see “Butterflies are Free.” This comedy features a bachelor, Don, who moves into his own apartment for the first time. Though it is just a cramped cold-water flat, the freedom is exhilarating. The fun begins when the pretty, kooky woman next door meets Don’s overprotective mother. The center’s art class will hold an exhibit at the Ramsey Public Library, 55 Wyckoff Avenue, during the month of February. Dog and cat licenses available Dog and cat licensing is now under way in Ramsey and will continue through Feb. 28. Pet licenses may be renewed in the borough clerk’s office weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In addition, the office will remain open until 7:30 p.m. on Monday nights through February. License fees are outlined on the renewal notice that was mailed to pet owners. Renewals may also be completed by mail with proof of updated rabies inoculation and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Farmers Market is now indoors The Ramsey Farmers Market will remain at its indoor location at the Eric Smith School, 73 Monroe Street in Ramsey, through March 24. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The indoor market hosts over 25 vendors with fresh fish from the Hampton Bays, grass-fed and pasture raised meats, organic and hothouse produce, local orchard fruits and baked goods, artisanal cheeses and breads, homemade pastas, and much more.
