Emergency services reorganize
Ramsey’s emergency service officers were sworn in at a special reorganization session held Jan. 13 at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Mechanic Street. Mayor Christopher Botta was on hand to administer the oath of office to the members of the Ramsey Office of Emergency Management, Ramsey Rescue, the ambulance corps, and the fire department. This year, the fire department will be headed by Chief Randy Sterbinsky. Police Captain Raymond Bailey attended the session and expressed his gratitude to the emergency responders who rescued him after a tree fell on him during Hurricane Sandy. Bailey, whose arm was still in a sling, was visibly moved as he spoke. The ceremony was well-attended. Guests included Council Members Vanessa Jachzel, Joe Verdone, and Harry Weber.
