Mr. and Mrs. Denis Trum of Ramsey have announced the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Trum, to Samuel Eliot Barber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Barber of Watertown, Connecticut. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mary Ramsdell and the late Arthur Ramsdell, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trum. She is a graduate of Ramsey High School, and received a BS in communicative disorders from the University of Rhode Island. She is a sales and marketing director for Kilian Perfumes in New York. Her fiancé is the grandson of Susan Barber and the late Craig Barber, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Dinkle. He graduated from The Gunnery High School, and from Saint Lawrence University with a BA in social science. He is a financial planner with Charter Oak Group in Stamford Connecticut. A September 2013 wedding is planned.

Elsie and Bob DeBenedetto of Garden City, New York, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Erica DeBenedetto, to Robert B. Balkema, son of Gary and Donna Balkema of Mahwah. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Garden City High School, Harvard University, and San Diego State University, where she received an MBA in sports business management. She is employed by JP Morgan in New York City. Her fiancé is a graduate of Mahwah High School. He earned a degree in economics from Harvard University. He is employed at Russell Investment Group in New York City.
A July 2013 wedding is planned in Garden City, New York.

Ron and Darlene Meyers of Franklin Lakes have announced the engagement of their daughter, Heather Elizabeth Meyers, to Paul Nebesni, son of Paul and Denise Nebesni of Bloomfield. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Ramapo High School and Monmouth University, and received her master’s degree from the College of New Jersey. She is a fifth grade teacher at Manito Elementary School in Oakland. Her fiancé, a graduate of Bloomfield High School, works at John Garcia Construction in Clifton. An Aug. 10, 2013 wedding is planned at Wyckoff Reformed Church. The couple will reside in Midland Park.
Walter and Sandy White of Wyckoff have announced the engagement of their daughter, Whitney Wilsey White, to Frank E. Castellvi Jr., son of Frank and Sue Castellvi of North Haledon. The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes. She received a bachelor’s degree in education and social policy from Northwestern University in 2010. Currently, she is a teacher’s assistant at Ridge Elementary School in Ridgewood. Her fiancé graduated from Bergen Catholic High School in 2005. He received a BBA with a concentration in marketing from the Sellinger Business School at Loyola University in Maryland. He is a project director with Next Generation Healthcare Group in New York, New York. An October wedding is planned.

Ryan and Christine Bauernfeind of Waldwick have announced the birth of their son, William Thomas, on Oct. 10, 2012 at 3:34 p.m. He was 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long. William joins his sister Emma.
