‘Charlie Brown’ coming to Ramsey The Per4ming heARTS Theater Company will present “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” on Jan. 25 and 26 at 8 p.m. and on Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. The shows will be presented at the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey located at 15 Shuart Lane. This production, which is being directed by Ramsey resident Danielle Van Kampen, is a benefit for Hearts & Crafts Grief Counseling. The show is based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schultz. The book, music, and lyrics are by Clark Gesner. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for students, and $15 for children under 12. Pet licenses may be renewed in the borough clerk’s office weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In addition, the office will remain open until 7:30 p.m. on Monday nights through February. License fees are outlined on the renewal notice that was mailed to pet owners. Renewals may also be completed by mail with proof of updated rabies inoculation and a self-addressed stamped envelope. For more information, call (201) 825-3400, extension 221. ‘Wrap-around Kindergarten’ offered Ramsey Adult School is now offering “Wrap-around Kindergarten,” a half-day, fee-based kindergarten enrichment program. The program, held in the local schools, is a before or after kindergarten enrichment program that provides high quality, affordable, and convenient child care to students enrolled in the Ramsey School District. The program follows Ramsey’s school calendar and is designed to complement the child’s kindergarten experience. Registration packets are available in the main offices

A Registration Open House will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. in room 188 at Ramsey High School, 266 East Main Street. Registrations will not be accepted prior to the Open House. Seniors announce events Ramsey Seniors will hold its first luncheon of the year in the senior center in Finch Park on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 12:30 p.m. Celebrate the Year of the Snake and enjoy a Chinese feast catered by Ya Xing Chinese Restaurant of Ramsey. The event will feature a special performance by the Ramsey Senior Center Tai Chi group. The cost to attend is $8. Sign up will begin Jan. 15 at borough hall, 33 North Central Avenue. Space is limited. The seniors will travel by bus to the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse to see “Butterflies are Free” on Feb. 20. This comedy features a bachelor, Don, who moves into his own apartment for the first time. Though it is just a cramped cold-water flat, the freedom is exhilarating. The pretty, kooky gal next door meets his overprotective mother and the fun begins. Tickets are $69, and includes transportation, show, and dinner. Sign up will begin Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. at borough hall. Checks should be made payable to the Ramsey Seniors. Seniors are invited to the Movie Series, which is held on Sundays. The films start at 1 p.m., and refreshments are served. The schedule for January includes: Jan. 20, “Man on a Ledge;” and Jan. 27, “The Lucky One.” Line dancing is back in the swing on Mondays at 10:30

ESL tutor training offered Ramsey residents who are interested in becoming English as a Second Language tutors are invited to the Tutor Training Workshop to be held at the Westwood Public Library on Tuesdays, Jan. 22 and 29, and Feb. 5 and 12 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. This training prepares tutors to teach adults to speak and read English. All books and supplies are furnished free of charge for those tutoring for the Literacy Volunteers of Pascack Valley, which includes the Ramsey Public Library. Registration is limited. Book groups plan discussions The First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey’s Connections Book Group will discuss Paulo Coehlo’s “The Alchemist” on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The group will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the church’s Metzger Room. The mystical novel features the story of a Spanish shepherd boy seeking his destiny. On Jan. 30, the Literary Ladies will meet to discuss “Wolf Hall” by Hilary Mantel. Set in 16th century England, King Henry VIII contends with the church with the help of Thomas Cromwell.
