Long-time sports fan Larry Pagano was honored last week for his steadfast dedication to Ramsey’s athletic teams. Pagano, known as Ramsey’s #1 sports fan, received a varsity jacket and varsity letter at halftime of the Senior Night varsity basketball game held at Ramsey High School. RHS Varsity Basketball Captain Nicholas Schifano spearheaded the effort to honor this loyal fan and friend. The move was supported by Coach Kevin McGuire and Athletic Director Jim Grasso and many other supporters.

Bear Swamp Road easement
(continued from page 5) seeking condemnation of certain portions of private land. The order of condemnation and temporary easement access directs TGP to pay compensation of $6,000 to the court for the temporary use of Bear Swamp Road over the Sun Valley Farm properties owned by Richard and Carol Greene and Lindsay Greene Barrett, Michael Brizzolara, the Yaw Paw Boy Scout Camp, and the County of Bergen, to be distributed according to a further order of the court minus a fee for handling the funds. The court order permitted TGP to begin using Bear Swamp Road as of Jan. 21, and the property owners affected by the condemnation were prohibited by the court from interfering with TGP’s use of Bear Swamp Road during the course of the gas company’s project. No decision has been rendered in the second count in TGP’s civil action. The company is seeking a declaratory judgment granting TGP a perpetual, permanent easement to use Bear Swamp Road for maintenance and operation of the meter site in Mahwah. The Greenes have been fighting with TGP for almost 18 months trying to place restrictions of the use of the road that passes over their farmland. They wanted to prohibit the transport of explosives, hazardous gases such as acetylene for welding, daily diesel fuel deliveries, and construction equipment. A Deerhaven Road resident also expressed concern to the Mahwah Township Council recently about the loads and materials that may be transported over Bear Swamp Road by TGP. While the township is not involved in the legal action between TGP and the Greenes and their neighbors, Township Engineer Michael Kelly is scheduling a meeting with TGP to review the agreements reached at a meeting that was held almost a year ago. He said TGP agreed at that meeting to only use Bear Swamp Road for the transport of workers to the construction site and Township Administrator Brian Campion has confirmed that understanding. The judge’s written opinion granting the condemnation and immediate right to use Bear Swamp Road was based on several factors, one of which was that TGP intends to use the road only for transporting its workers to the metering station in Mahwah.
