Area Seniors announce plans
for social & anniversary
The Mahwah Seniors have announced
plans for an Ice Cream Social this month
and an anniversary party in September.
The Ice Cream Social will be held Aug.
22 at noon at the senior center at 475 Cor-
porate Drive. This event is open to Mahwah
seniors. The entry fee is $1.
On Sept. 19, the center will celebrate
its Tenth Anniversary with a luncheon and
dance. Local officials will be on hand. This
event is for Mahwah seniors. The cost to
attend is $2.
The center, with its strong belief in vital-
ity at all ages, places significant emphasis
on health and wellness programming, inter-
generational events, fitness, support groups
of many kinds, arts & crafts classes, multi-
cultural programs, computer classes, and
various other educational and recreational
activities. In addition to scheduled programs,
seniors can enjoy the center’s library, com-
puter area, games, and art exhibits. Lunch
is provided one day a month.
A free monthly calendar lists all the
activities, menus, and programs for that
month. Seniors may obtain information and sup-
port from the Elder Affairs staff and from
partnering organizations that provide ser-
vices including veterans’ assistance, health
insurance counseling, tax return prepara-
tion, legal assistance, and individual client
advocacy. The center, which receives its core fund-
ing from the Township of Mahwah, main-
tains a multi-cultural atmosphere in which
thousands of seniors have been taking
charge of their health and thriving.
