Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • April 10. 2013 Mahwah Jani Hegarty of Mahwah was recently honored for her long-standing support of Oasis: A Haven for Women and Children, a Paterson-based charity. The mission of Oasis is to feed and clothe local women and children in need and provide them with educational resources and skills. Hegarty has supported this mission along with her business partners Bonnie Welsch and Audrey Pezzuti since they founded their company, Health and Wellness Partners of Ramsey, in 2005. Oasis honored Hegarty and her partners at the charity’s 17th Annual Dinner Dance, which was held at The Venetian in Garfield. “When we started this organization, we realized we had a choice. We could come to work and just do our jobs, or we could come to work and try to make a difference. We chose to make a difference,” Hegarty said. Hegarty, Welsch, Pezzuti, and their staff have helped Oasis make a difference by sponsoring health and vision screenings, donating time and communications services, running food drives, and providing financial support. In addition, every month the company provides much-needed diapers to mothers in the Paterson community. Employees contribute to the “diaper fund” directly from their paychecks, and the company matches these contributions dollar for dollar. Oasis: A Haven for Women and Children is dedicated to feeding and clothing needy women and children and offering educational resources and skills to help them to obtain meaningful employment and break the cycle of poverty.
