Kinnane to speak Karen Kinnane will present a talk about daylilies at the April 9 meeting of the Ramsey Area Garden Club. The club will meet at 6:45 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 55 Wyckoff Avenue in Ramsey. Kinnane has been growing daylilies for 37 years and has added 1,000 varieties of the flower to her property. The public is welcome to the first portion of the meeting, which features the speaker. Juniors announce events The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey serves and supports the community through volunteering, fundraising, and social events. For more information, visit ramseyjuniors.com. The club’s next monthly meeting will be Thursday, April 11 at the Ramsey Ambulance Corps building at 7:30 p.m. The club is currently seeking donations for its Second Annual Tag Sale & Bake Sale, which will be held May 11. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Ramsey’s civic organizations. The club is seeking donations of children’s toys, clothing, household items, small appliances, and more. Last year, the club netted over $1,700 from this sale and donated over $500 worth of items to Ramsey Responds. This year, the club is counting on the community’s help to make this event even more successful. Group seeks jewelry and book donations The Friends of Ramsey Library is accepting donations of jewelry and books for the group’s Book & Jewelry Sale. Jewelry donations will be accepted through April 18. Donations of books will be accepted April 22 through 25, during regular library hours. Please note that VHS tapes, encyclopedias, and textbooks cannot be accepted. The Book & Jewelry Sale will be held April 26 through 28. A preview sale for “Friends” members will be held April 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. New members are always welcome; membership forms are available at the circulation desk. The sale will be open to the public on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 28 from noon to 3 p.m. Anyone who would like to volunteer to help with the sale may inquire at the library at 30 Wyckoff Avenue. Ramsey Cleanup Day set The Ramsey Environmental Commission, with the support of the Ramsey Council, Ramsey Rescue, and the Bergen County Department of Health Services, Clean Communities Program, will host its annual cleanup on Saturday, April 20. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p. m. (Rain date: April 21.) Individuals, families, and groups are welcome to join in this civic service. Participants will meet at the Ramsey Rescue garage on Prospect Street to sign up. Work gloves, T-shirts, and supplies will be provided. New walking group forming A new walking group, Ramsey Walks at 5 p.m., has been created to accommodate residents who prefer late afternoon exercise or find it difficult to attend a morning walk. This new group meets in the Smith School parking lot at 2 Monroe Street at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The walks are approximately 45 minutes and follow local, low-traffic streets on the west side of Ramsey. Participants of all ages and walking speeds are welcome. Registration is not necessary. The board of health also hosts two morning groups: Ramsey Walks at 8 a.m., which meets in Varka’s parking lot; and Ramsey Walks at 9:30 a.m., which meets at the Interstate Shopping Center entrance to the bike path.
