May 29, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 27 The drizzle did not dampen the spirits of the Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department’s wetdown on May 18 to christen its new 2012 Pierce pumper. In all, 35 fire departments descended upon Waldwick , with each visiting engine circling the new truck, parked in the Hudson City Bank lot, and wetting it down to celebrate. Inside the fire house, the Wanaque and Hawthorne fire departments stood stand by just in case a call came in, and Wyckoff was on stand by in their own town ready to serve. The Ho-Ho-Kus fire department covered its neighbor all night long so that it could celebrate as a department. “On behalf of all our officers and members, we want to thank all the businesses, the library, Hudson City Bank and the residents on Dora Avenue for your understanding and support. To the Waldwick Police Department, DPW, CERTs and all the fire Waldwick Fire Department welcomes new pumper departments who came out to be with us, we thank you. Last but not least, thank you to all the residents who came out to be with us. Having you there meant a lot to our department. We are here to serve and protect you, and we are honored to be your fire department,” wrote Fire Chief Kenn Warr Sr. and Company President Tom Giordano in a joint statement. Giordano is also the borough’s mayor. “As mayor I want to thank the Waldwick Fire Department for all they have done in the past and present in making Waldwick a safe community to live in. Your constant support to the community and residents is admirable. Thank you for your constant dedication to and protection of Waldwick. With you and all the other organizations that serve and protect Waldwick, we will always be in good hands. Thank you,” Giordano concluded.
