The event, held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. will feature ice cream, strawberries on a homemade biscuit or pound cake, and a beverage. The social will take place rain or shine. Lions offer free eye screenings The Waldwick Lions Club will offer free eye screenings on Sunday, June 2. This community service is presented by The Waldwick Lions Club and the New Jersey Department of Human Services. ‘Radio Nashville’ to perform Like Country Music? Bring out the cowboy boots and get ready to square dance on Wednesday May 29 as the borough’s free summer concert series continues with a performance by “Radio Nashville,” which tells a country story with a show that’s One Big Party. Covering the best modern country music from north of Nashville, this sixpiece band features three male lead singers, an incredible female lead singer, a beautiful and talented fiddle player, a pounding rhythm section and an amazing lead guitarist. The concert will be held at The Oval located at the intersection of Hopper Avenue and West Prospect Street, beginning at dusk. It is free to all area residents. Come out and join the hoedown. Uniform distribution announced Waldwick Junior Cheerleading will hold its uniform distribution and sizing on June 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the ambulance corps building at 20 White’s Lane. Girls who are new to the Mini program will need to have their size determined. Returning Minis need not attend. Cheerleaders for the Pee Wee, Junior, and Senior teams will have their sizes taken at this time. Order forms for WJCFA apparel will be available. WCA sets Car Show & Live Concert The Waldwick Community Alliance Annual Car Show and Live Concert will be held Sunday, June 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Waldwick Train Station, 7 Hewson Avenue. (Rain date: June 9.) The event will feature many makes and models of cars, bikes, and trucks along with live music by “Mike Moat” & “Golden Reflections” performing “Eternally Elvis” and featuring a 10-piece band. Classic rock masters, Yosemite, and Waldwick’s Kristen Major will also be performing. The “Eternally Elvis” show will start at 12:30 p.m. Trophies will be awarded in all classes and dash plaques will be issued to the first 100 cars. Food and cold drinks will be available for purchase. Admission to the show is free. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Waldwick Train Station Restoration. Milestone recorded Lions host Blood Drive The Waldwick Lions Club will host a Blood Drive on Thursday, May 30 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Traphagen School, 153 Summit Avenue in Waldwick. This drive is being held in cooperation with Community Blood Services. Donors will ensure that the transfusion needs of area patients are met. To schedule an appointment, call Community Blood Services at (201) 251-3703. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol and glucose screening with every blood donation. Register for fall soccer The Waldwick Soccer Association’s online registration for fall 2013 has begun. The program is open to students who will be entering kindergarten in September 2013 through high school. Registration may be completed at www.waldwicksoccer.com. Players in kindergarten through fourth grade play in an in-town league; students in grades five and up participate in a travel program affiliated with the Northwest Bergen Soccer Association.
