Mayor recognizes service provided by Community Meals
Community Meals Inc. and its many Waldwick volunteers were recognized by the Borough of Waldwick last week for their effort to end senior hunger in America. “Since I became mayor, I have had the honor to see firsthand what Meals on Wheels is all about,” Mayor Thomas Giordano told Executive Director Stacey Gilmartin in presenting her with a proclamation (photo at right). “Each year, Meals on Wheels asks mayors to be a part of delivering food to their residents who are in the program. I have delivered meals to my residents for the past two years. I would like to thank all the Waldwick volunteer residents as well as all the volunteers from all the surrounding communities for being a part of this caring organization. Thank you for being there for those who need assistance. Your good work in our communities makes a difference. Please accept this proclamation from a thankful mayor.” Last year, Meals on Wheels served 22,202 meals to 147 clients, including approximately 27 clients from Waldwick. CMI is a private, non-profit service organization that delivers nutritious meals to homebound, elderly convalescent, and handicapped clients in Allendale, Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, Ridgewood, Waldwick, and part of Saddle River. The meals delivered by CMI are prepared by the Valley Hospital Food and Nutrition Services Department, and are varied daily.
