Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • May 22, 2013 Waldwick The new handicapped-accessible park planned for Borough Park in Waldwick will be named “The Sean Fisher Memorial Park,” Mayor Thomas Giordano said last week, as he presented Sean’s parents, Jim and Sheila Fisher, a proclamation thanking them for the work done by the Sean Fisher Memorial Foundation in helping young residents. In conjunction with Gift of Life America, the foundation has screened over 350 Waldwick freshmen students New park will honor Sean Fisher memory in the past four years to detect heart conditions that may cause sudden cardiac arrest. These tests revealed cardiac problems in nine Waldwick students who required follow up by their pediatric cardiologist. The Foundation was established in honor of Sean Fisher, who passed away on his 13th birthday on August 25, 2008, as the result of an undetected heart condition. “May your example of concern, love and kindness be an example for all of us. Thank you for making us all aware of sudden cardiac arrest in our young adults and for making sure they will be around to enjoy another day,” the mayor told the Fishers.
