Knights to host Golf Outing The Saint Luke’s Knights of Columbus council will hold its annual Golf Outing on Monday, June 10 at the Meadows golf course in Lincoln Park. Tee off time will be 9 a.m. Golfers will play a scramble format. The entry fee of $130 includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, prizes, contests, and much more. Grand Prize of Nanuet is sponsoring the Hole in One Contest. The prize is a 2013 Cadillac. Hole sponsorships are still available. Proceeds from this event benefit the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund. In the past decade, the Saint Luke’s Knights of Columbus has awarded over 40 college scholarships. Post holds Coins for a Cause Area residents are encouraged to donate their coins to the American Legion Post 53 of Ridgewood–Ho-Ho-Kus by participating in Coins for a Cause on Saturday, May 25. Participants are invited to visit Boiling Springs Savings Bank at 531 North Maple Avenue in Ridgewood between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and place their change in the bank’s free coin counting machine. Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony set The Washington Elm VFW Post 192 of Ho-Ho-KusRidgewood will hold its Memorial Day Parade and solemn observance in Ho-Ho-Kus on Monday, May 27. All are invited. Veterans and military personnel are asked to march in uniform. U.S. memorial flags will be given to all veterans and military personnel who attend. This year’s speaker is a senior Army officer from the Iraq War. The program will also include a performance of “Echo-Taps.”
Marchers, military, and other vehicles will form up at Ardmore and Sheridan avenues at 10 a.m. The parade will step off at 10:30 a.m., and proceed south on Sheridan Avenue to the Ho-Ho-Kus Town Green on Sycamore Avenue. At the Green, a solemn observance will be conducted to honor the service men and women who paid the ultimate price in all military actions to date and to honor U.S. troops presently serving around the globe. Woyce to discuss Jersey Shore Author and photographer Kevin Woyce will present a history of the Jersey Shore to the Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors on Tuesday, May 28. The program will begin at 1 p.m. in the education building at the Hermitage located at 335 North Franklin Turnpike. Woyce will discuss the history of the Jersey Shore from the distant past of pirates and shipwrecks though today. Learn how towns got their unusual names and more. The seniors group meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Hermitage Education Building. Business Card Exchange set Abbott and Casserta will host an Inner Circle Business Card Exchange on Wednesday, May 29 at the Bacari Grill, 800 Ridgewood Road in the Township of Washington. The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Admis-
sion includes appetizers and one drink. Tickets purchased before May 24 are $15. Tickets purchased after that date will cost $20. Library accepts exhibits The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, 91 Warren Avenue, Ho-Ho-Kus, wants to hear from area residents who want to display their original artwork or interesting collections. VFW welcomes new members The Ho-Ho-Kus VFW Post 192, which serves Ho-HoKus and Ridgewood, welcomes new members. Police accept Reverse 911 updates Ho-Ho-Kus Police Chief John Wanamaker reminds residents who are not currently on the borough’s Reverse 911 list to call the police desk at (201) 652-1700 to have their contact information added. Anyone with a change of information or a new phone number is invited to call. The borough’s Reverse 911 system allows the municipality to relay important information to residents via telephone. While many residents’ home numbers are listed as part of the Reverse 911 system, citizens also have the option of registering their cell phone numbers so they may receive messages when they are away from home. Police offer announcements via Twitter The Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department is now featuring special announcements that will be available to the public via Twitter. The link to Twitter may be found on the department’s website, www.ho-ho-kuspolice.com. Messages will cover various non-emergency situations, such as road closings and delayed school openings. Emergency information and other situations that affect the community will still be disseminated via Reverse 911.
