run drew 800 competitors, who followed the 5K course through the borough. The winner, Rob Albano of Pompton Plains, set a course record of 15:48.48. After the race, everyone enjoyed activities and refreshments on the grounds of the Zion Lutheran Evangelical Church. Participants watched as AirMed One, the HackensackUMC helicopter, landed on the nearby lawn of borough hall. People of various
ages lined up to get a close up view of the big bird and to talk with the medical staff and pilots on board. The event was held in honor of Susan Zabranksy Hughes, a long-time Saddle River resident who lost her battle with cancer in July 2011 at the age of 46. All proceeds from the run are being donated directly to the HackensackUMC Foundation specifically for Susan’s Suite.
