Guests enjoying a luncheon at the Mother/Daughter Afternoon Tea held in the John Fell House in May.
On June 6 from noon to 2:30 p.m., the John Fell House Tea Committee will host a special tea that will include an exclusive presentation by Rohsler’s Allendale Nursery & Florist regarding their David Austin Premier Partnership Roses. Rohsler’s will have expert gardeners present a seminar, answer questions, and provide an opportunity to purchase the David Austin Roses. This event will also include prizes and demos about pruning and arranging flowers. The tea will be held in the historic John Fell House at 475 Franklin Turnpike in the tradition of Lady Anna Maria Russell Stanhope, Duchess of Bedford. The Duchess, lifelong friend of Queen Victoria, is credited with evolving the Afternoon Tea from a simple meal to the social event of the day. The June tea will include tea sandwich towers and scones with clotted cream and preserves, and a decadent dessert all prepared by the Passport Café of West Milford. The cost to attend the tea is $45. RSVP by May 31 to Theresa Salameno at (201) 825-2840 or to Linda Schropp at lschropp@optonline.net. Additional tea dates include: Sept. 10, Oct. 5, and the Annual Holiday Tea on Dec. 6 when the Fell House is decorated for the holidays. The John Fell House is owned, operated and maintained by the Concerned Citizens of Allendale, a 501c3 non-profit
