Ho-Ho-Kus May 15, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 5 Bocchiaro wins award in anti-bullying contest by Jennifer Crusco Michael Bocchiaro’s anti-bullying PowerPoint presentation has earned him a win among his sixth grade peers in the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office’s “Don’t Stand by for Bullying” contest. His winning entry focused on how students, teachers, parents, and other adults can help a child who is being bullied. Bocchiaro, a sixth grade student at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School, received his award at the recent SNAP conference for educators and law enforcement. Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the winners of the contest, which was open to all Bergen County students. The competition challenged entrants to describe how they would take action against bullying. Elementary school students submitted posters, middle school students sent in PowerPoint presentations, and high school students produced videos. Schools chose their top entries for each grade level. The final voting was conducted online at the BCPO.net website. With one of the winning entries receiving more than 6,000 votes, interest in the contest was intense. “In this, the third year of our contest, we have seen a dramatic increase in the quality of the students’ entries,” said Prosecutor Molinelli. “We are always eager to partner with Bergen County educators to deliver important (continued on page 14) Michael Bocchiaro with Prosecutor John Molinelli
