She was born on Ackerman Avenue in Glen Rock to Louise Ackerman and Frank Waldon, former mayor of Glen Rock. She is descended from Jacob Ackerman, who settled in Bergen County in the 1600s. She graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1932, finished teacher training at Glassboro Normal School, and completed a bachelor’s degree at William Paterson University. She earned a master’s degree from New York University and a professional diploma from Teachers College, Columbia University. Before retiring in 1975, she was an elementary teacher for 22 years and subsequently the reading consultant for the Glen Rock schools for 17 years. She married Philip DeGraaf in 1975. She was a volunteer in many local civic and professional organizations and she was a member of the Glen Rock Community Church. She is survived by her nieces Sandra Johanson of Convent Station and Judith Martin of Asheville, North Carolina, a grand-nephew and grandniece, and her stepsons David DeGraaf of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Robert DeGraaf of Acqualoreto, Italy. She is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren from the DeGraaf family. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. DeNoble, nee Vermeulen, of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, formerly of Wyckoff, died April 30. She was 73. Before retiring in 1998, she was a fourth grade teacher at High Mountain and Woodside Avenue schools in Franklin Lakes for 25 years. She was a former member of the Wyckoff Reformed Church, and a member of the Wyckoff Lions Club Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 130 Auxiliary in Midland Park. She is survived by her husband Garret De Noble of North Carolina, her daughter Suzanne Hein-Cottle of Ramsey and Jersey City, and her stepchildren Jane De Noble of Warren, Marjorie De NobleMurphy of Kearneysville, West Virginia, and Michael De Noble of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by three grandchildren, her siblings Joyce Weigers-La Brie of Cushing, Maine and Abrahm Vermeulen of Glen Gardner, and her former husband Donald Hein of Lewes, Delaware. Stephen John Dormer of Suffern, New York, formerly of Upper Saddle River, died April 26. He was 25. He attended primary school in Upper Saddle River and graduated from Northern Highlands High School in 2006. He majored in finance at Ramapo College. He had participated Grace W. DeGraaf in recreational sports, baseball, basketball, and soccer, and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 133. He played football at Northern Highlands and was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Allendale. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Saint Francis College in Brooklyn. He worked for over 30 years for International Paper Company in New York City. He is survived by his children John E. Hennessy Jr., Daniel Hennessy, and Anne Bridgette Hennessy, one grandchild, and his sister Katherine Delisio. She is survived by her husband Marc E. Howe, her daughters Julia H. Howe and Andrea M. Howe, and her sisters Eiko Shiwotsuka and Naoko Takenaka. She had been a waitress at Wolfie’s Deli in the Bergen Mall for 18 years. She was a former parishioner at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Maywood. He was a mason and plasterer and a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and the Improved Order of Red Men Council in Northvale. He is survived by his son Kevin Perusini and daughter-in-law Janet of Oakland, his daughter Karen LaBozetta of Fair Lawn, and his granddaughter Amanda LaBozetta of Fair Lawn. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Grace Perusini of Old Tappan, brother and sister-in-law Andy and Betty Krivda of Bergenfield, and many nieces and nephews. Colonel Trenton Wright, U.S. Army Retired, of Upper Saddle River died April 27. He was 84. He joined the U.S. Army after high school and entered Officer Candidate School and became the youngest second lieutenant in the army at the time. He served two tours of duty in the Korean conflict and served in Okinawa, Japan. He spent considerable time thereafter in the Army Reserve retiring at the rank of full colonel. He is a member of the United States Army Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame. He received the Meritorious Service Medal on April 19, 1977. He completed his accounting degree at New York University and then entered a 40-year career in public service with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring after serving in the major corporate audit division. He is a former member of the Upper Saddle River Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He is survived by his wife Edna (Holt) Wright of Marked Tree, Arkansas, his children Trenton Wright Jr. of Connecticut and Christine Wright of Ramsey, two grandchildren, and his sister Dorothy Shannon.
