Parade participants will assemble at 9 a.m. Tallman Place and Myrtle Avenue, and the parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. The service will be held at the end of the parade in Memorial Park. Friends host Giant Book Sale The Friends of the Lee Memorial Library will hold a Giant Book Sale on Saturday, May 18. The sale will take place in the lobby and upstairs of the library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A wide variety of gently-used fiction and nonfiction books, current best-sellers, history, science fiction, education, travel, and more will be available at bargain prices from 25 cents and up. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the library for the purchase of new materials. The library is located at 500 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale. Cub Scouts hold Water Rocket Day Allendale Cub Scouts will hold Water Rocket Day on Sunday, May 19. The event will be held on the field at Crestwood Lake from noon to 2 p.m. Boys in kindergarten through grade three are invited to participate. Attendees are asked to bring two empty two-liter soda bottles, and must be accompanied by an adult. Chamber reorders Allendale afghan The Allendale Chamber of Commerce recently reordered the popular afghan depicting several borough landmarks and has varied colors available for sale once again. The 72 in. by 50 in. cotton throw comes in forest green, navy blue and burgundy with a cream background. A few pieces in Kentucky blue are still in stock.
