Chamber plans 5K Run/1 Mile Walk The Sixth Annual Waldwick Chamber of Commerce 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk will be held on Sunday, April 28 at the Waldwick High School track. This is a Grand Prix sanctioned event with a fast scenic course, a track finish, and many prizes and awards. Participants of all ages are welcome. Commemorative T-shirts and the “best goody bags in New Jersey” will be given to the first 450 registered participants. For the third year, Massage Envy Spa of Waldwick will be the presenting sponsor. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sean Fisher Foundation, Hope with Heart, Valley Hospital Butterflies, and school and volunteer organizations throughout the community. The noon meeting will be held at the Waldwick Methodist Church at 25 Franklin Turnpike. The cost to attend is $5 and includes pizza and cannoli. Attendees should bring their own beverages. Holy Week services announced The Waldwick United Methodist Church located at 25 Franklin Avenue welcomes everyone to its Holy Week services. The service for Maundy Thursday, March 28, will be held at Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church, which is located at 318 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River at 7:30 p.m. The service will include a reenactment of the Last Supper. Congregations from Park Ridge United Methodist Church and Archer United Methodist Church are also invited. Church is offering five scholarships to Waldwick students or registered members of Saint Luke’s parish. Applicants must be planning to attend college in the fall of 2013. Donations sought for Attic Treasures Sale The Waldwick United Methodist Church is seeking donations of gently-used items for its Annual Attic Treasures Sale, which will be held April 19 and 20. Items for the sale will be accepted on April 17 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church located at 25 Franklin Turnpike. Donation letters are available. The Waldwick Public Library’s program, “Unknown Palisades: A Slideshow through Time,” has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. Eric Nelsen of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission will bring the history of the Palisades to life. His presentation will include a slideshow of bathing beaches and other facilities that ran at full-tilt during the earlier part of the 20th century. Chamber networking in Medieval Spain The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce will participate in the Inter-Chamber of Commerce event “Business after Hours at the Castle” on Thursday, March 28. This evening of networking will begin at 5:45 p.m. at Medieval Times in Lyndhurst. The show will begin at 7 p.m. Participants will “visit” the 11th century, where they will enjoy a four-course meal served by serfs and wenches, while watching a twohour live show including jousting, sword fighting, falconry, and equestrian dressage, set within a story of bravery and romance. The cost is $32 per person for ICC and non-members; tax and gratuity not included. Participating households will have their addresses included on the map provided to bargain seekers on the day of the sale. Golden Seniors plan trips Waldwick’s Golden Seniors will host a trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains April 28 through May 4. This trip will feature motor coach transportation, a guided tour of Smoky Mountain National Park, and entertainment. Shows will include the Smoky Mountain Opry, Cirque de Chine, the Smith Family, the Hatfield-McCoy Dinner Show, the Patty Waszak Show, and the Country Jamboree Variety Show.
