Saddle River March 20, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 9 A group of Saddle River residents who fielded an opposition slate of officers, the Slate for Change, has won the Saddle River Republican Club’s March 12 election. The successful slate includes Amy Fisher, president; Eric Jensen, vice president; Tara Maw, treasurer; Paul Schulstad, secretary; and Bill Slayne and Ron Gray, trustees. “Tuesday evening was tense,” Fisher told Villadom TIMES. “I had no idea what the outcome might be, and I am appreciative to all the people who supported our platform. The real credit goes to the many dedicated people on my team who have worked tirelessly to make Saddle River residents more informed about local government. I am hoping this effort has resulted in more residents wanting to get involved in the man- Opposition slate wins Republican Club election agement of their town. “As to our future plans...I hope the Slate for Change will be a positive addition to the Saddle River Republican Club. Most of all, I hope that residents who previously felt they had ‘no voice’ in our community will realize that they most certainly do -- if they just take the risk of stepping up to the plate. This is a wonderful community, and I look forward to working together with my neighbors in order to preserve the charm of Saddle River.” Fisher is a 27-year borough resident and a 17-year member of the SRRC. She is a past president of the club, and has served as its vice president, treasurer, and secretary. Fisher has also served as a County Committee member. She is a founder of the Committee of Concerned Saddle River Taxpayers, a non-partisan group formed by residents who oppose the new borough hall project. A graduate of the University of Maine, Fisher is an advertising, marketing, and public relations professional who has been employed by Dancer Fitzgerald Sample and the Trump Organization. She currently hosts a top-rated radio program. She has been active with the Valley Hospital Auxiliary for 15 years. Jensen has been a borough resident and a member of the SRRC for 20 years. He has served as the club’s president, vice president, treasurer, and trustee. He has also served as a County Committee member and as Municipal Chairman. He was a member of the Saddle River Planning Board for 12 years, including two years as chairman. He has volunteered with various community organizations and used his technical expertise to improve the computer systems in the local schools. Jensen studied electrical engineering and computer science at Duke University. He worked at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke and at several software development firms before founding Jensen Research Corporation. Maw was raised in the Saddle River Valley, and settled in the area with her family nine years ago. She is active with the Valley Hospital Auxiliary, which she has served as treasurer, administrative vice president, and co-chair of Saddle River’s branch. She has also served as trustee and treasurer of the Wandell School Education Foundation. As a student at Georgetown University, Maw became an intern for Congresswoman Marge Roukema. She later became a CPA, and spent eight years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. She is currently acting CFO (continued on page 10)
