Allendale March 20, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 5 In April, the Concerned Citizens of Allendale will mark the third anniversary of the purchase of the historic John Fell House, located at 475 Franklin Turnpike in Allendale. CCA purchased the house with monies secured from grants and local fundraising efforts. An Open House will take place at the John Fell House on April 22 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. to celebrate the third year since the purchase of the home for preservation as a self-sustaining community center, and to commemorate the 236th anniversary of the arrest and imprisonment of Continental Congressman John Fell by a band of Loyalist raiders. Visitors will receive a tour of the house and may learn more about how to get involved in CCA efforts. Refreshments will be served; the event is free and open to all. On April 27, from noon to 2:30 p.m., the John Fell House Tea Committee will host a Mother Daughter Spring Afternoon Tea. All John Fell House Afternoon Teas take place from noon to 2:30pm and cost $45 per person. Additional dates include Sept. 10, Oct. 5, and the Annual Holiday Tea on Dec. 6, when the John Fell House will be beautifully decorated for the holidays. On May 18, the John Fell House will participate in the Northwest Bergen History Coalition, along with seven other historic homes in Northwest Bergen County, including the Hermitage Museum in Ho-Ho-Kus and the HopperGoetschius House in Upper Saddle River. Purchase one ticket to gain access to all eight properties, and learn about the rich and vast history of northwest Bergen County. Also on May 18, the John Fell House will host a Scotch Tasting event featuring Spike McClure, Master of Whiskey for Johnny Walker. Sip six specially selected rare CCA marks anniversary of Fell House preservation scotches, nibble hearty and delicious appetizers, and enjoy a visit from an authentic bagpipe and drum corps. Kilts are encouraged. Reserve by May 10. The donation is $125 per person. Limited seating is available. The John Fell House is owned, operated and maintained by the Concerned Citizens of Allendale, a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to the preservation of the John Fell House as a self-sustaining community center through grants, fundraisers and private donations.
