Holy Week at Abundant Life Abundant Life Reformed Church will begin Holy Week with the distribution of palms on Palm Sunday, March 24, at the 10:30 a.m. service. On Thursday, March 28, there will be a light supper commemorating Jesus’ “Last Supper” in the upper room with his disciples. This 6:30 p.m. supper will be followed by a worship service with Holy Communion. All are welcome. Please bring a hot or cold dish to share. Holy Week will conclude with the Easter Resurrection Worship Service on Sunday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. The service will feature special music from the choir and the children’s choir and a special message from Reverend Tom Larkin. Church prepares for Holy Week Holy Week Services at Old Paramus Reformed Church will begin on Palm Sunday, March 24, at 10 a.m. The Hosanna Day family service will include palms and music. Interim Minister Reverend Phyllis Palsma will deliver the sermon. On Maundy Thursday, March 28, Reverend Palsma will officiate at the symbolic Seder service with Holy Communion served around tables in Fellowship Hall. This service will begin at 7:30 p.m. On March 29, the Good Friday service will include scripture readings, hymns, and prayers. The message for the 7 p.m. service is “The Way to the Cross.” At the closing of the service, the congregation will extinguish the candles and depart into darkness. On Easter Sunday, March 31, the congregation will celebrate the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Festival music will be performed by the choir, accompanied by organ and brass. The choir and congregation will close the service by singing “The Hallelujah Chorus” by Handel. The community is invited to participate in these services. Celebrate Holy Week at Grace Grace United Methodist Church, located at 555 Russell Avenue in Wyckoff, invites the community to “Experience Grace at Easter.” Traditional services are planned for 9 and 11 a.m. on Palm Sunday, March 24. On Holy Thursday, March 28, there will be a noon service in the chapel. At 7:30 p.m. the church will offer Holy Communion and a reenactment of the Last Supper. A Tenebrae service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Good Friday, March 29. Join the church for Easter Breakfast on March 30 at 9 a.m. Reservations for breakfast are required, and may be made by calling the church. Celebrate Easter at Nativity The Church of the Nativity, located at 315 Prospect Street in Midland Park, will celebrate Holy Week with special services in Midland Park, and a community-wide service in Allendale. A communal penance service will be held on Saturday, March 23 at noon at Guardian Angel Church, 320 Franklin Turnpike in Allendale. Individual confessions will also be heard. Palm Sunday observances at Nativity will begin with a procession at 4:50 p.m. and a Mass at 5 p.m. on March 23. On Palm Sunday, March 24, Masses will be said at 8, 10:15, and noon. On March 28, Holy Thursday, there will be a morning prayer service at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel. The Feast of the Lord’s Supper will be held at 7:30 p.m. Good Friday, March 29, will begin with morning prayer at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel. Family Stations of the Cross will be held at 10:30 a.m. The Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and Death will be held at 3 p.m. There will be no 12:10 p.m. Mass on Holy Thursday or Good Friday. On Holy Saturday, March 30, a morning prayer service will be held at 8:30 a.m. The Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 11 a.m. At 8:15 p.m., there will be an Easter Vigil Mass. Church readies for Holy Week Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, located at 183 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park, will celebrate the Easter season with services at 9:30 a.m. on Palm Sunday, March 24, and Easter Sunday, March 31. On Easter Sunday, the service will feature the “Hallelujah Chorus.” The church provides nurseries at all services and is wheelchair accessible. BHUMC announces services Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church, located at 318 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River, welcomes residents to several Lenten season services. The church will hold an 11 a.m. service on Palm Sunday, March 24. On Maundy Thursday, March 28, the church will host a reenactment of the Last Supper at 7:30 p.m. This service will be a combined worship with Park Ridge United Methodist Church, Archer United Methodist Church, and Waldwick United Methodist Church.
