March 20, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 11 Ho-Ho-Kus Borough council approves annual salary ordinance by Jennifer Crusco At its last public meeting, the Ho-Ho-Kus Council approved the salary ordinance that covers the pay ranges of various borough employees. When the measure was approved, Ho-Ho-Kus Mayor Thomas Randall pointed out that the approval of the salary ordinance is a routine, annual event, and is not unique to Ho-Ho-Kus. He indicated that the ordinance “just states what is.” Specifically, the pay ranges for various positions within the borough. Randall noted that passage of the ordinance is a requirement and is part of the budgeting process. Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Administrator Don Cirulli said that approximately half of the posts of that are listed in the ordinances are currently not filled. Randall added that, in many cases, one borough employee holds multiple jobs. The pay ranges in the ordinance include: borough administrator, $75,000 to $120,000; human resources/personnel director, $6,500 to $15,000; assistant to the human resources/personnel director, $3,000 to $5,000; executive assistant, $10,000 to $60,000; borough clerk, $25,000 to $60,000; deputy borough clerk, $8,000 to $35,750; administrative assistant/secretary, $10,000 to $60,000; and purchasing agent, $15,000 to $35,000. The ordinance also includes the following salary ranges: chief financial officer, $35,000 to $60,000; treasurer, $20,000 to $30,000; deputy treasurer, $3,000 to $17,500; tax assessor, $8,000 to $50,000; and tax collector, $40,000 to $65,000. The library director’s salary range is listed at $25,000 to $60,000. The pay for assistant librarians is listed at an hourly rate of $8.50 to $17.50. Salary ranges for various municipal court officials are listed as follows: judge, $7,500 to $12,570; prosecutor, $6,000 to $10,200; and court administrator, $10,000 to $60,000. Under the terms of the proposed ordinance, the pay range for the emergency management coordinator would be $1,500 to $4,750, while the assistant coordinator would be paid between $250 and $1,375. Pay ranges for the members of the department of public works include $75,000 to $120,000 for the DPW superintendent; $57,500 to $90,000 for the assistant superintendent; $50,000 to $66,000 for the public works foreman; and $26,925 to $51,514 for PDW maintenance employees. The recreation director’s pay range is listed at $10,000 to $23,100. A range of $5,000 to $18,000 is listed for the planning board secretary, the zoning board secretary, and the registered environmental health specialist. Building and construction department salary ranges include: chief construction official, $5,000 to $60,000; building inspector/subcode official, $1,600 to $13,725; technical assistant, building department, $10,000 to $40,000; and zoning officer/zoning official, $500 to $8,000.
