March 13, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 7 Waldwick The Waldwick Council recently authorized a contract with Andy Matt, Inc. for additional drainage work at Veterans Park. Sixteen companies submitted bids, which ranged from the high bid of $96,502 to Andy Matt’s low bid of $19,678. Waldwick Borough Administrator Gary Kratz said the borough thought the drainage system at the park was sufficient, but has found that one area frequently remains wet. Kratz said the contractor would be working on the under drains in the field area so the site could be used for soccer and other activities. He said the contractor would trench the area, add drains, then backfill and re-sod the area. The work is expected to take approximately 30 days. Last year, the borough carried out drainage work at the Veterans Park fields with the use of a $35,000 grant from the Bergen County Open Space, Recreation, Farmland, and Historic Preservation Trust Fund. Generator & field projects advance In other business, the council authorized a contract for engineering services for the installation of a generator at Waldwick Fire Company 2. Asked about the generator project, Kratz said this piece of equipment would be used strictly for emergencies, and would provide power to the ambulance corps building, firehouse, and health center. The generator will be powered by natural gas and will be housed outside in an enclosure to minimize noise. The resolution approved by the council authorized the borough to hire Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. to perform the engineering services related to the installation of the generator. Stantec, which is a licensed engineer in the State of New Jersey, submitted a proposal not to exceed $10,000 to perform these services. Kratz said the project should be out to bid in approximately 30 to 45 days. The quote from Allendale Councilwoman Jacqueline McSwiggan should have stated: “The borough has received over 600 responses to either the letter campaign or the voluntary calls in from citizens to come and have their homes inspected. We have found about 22 violations that are going to be remediated. The response from the community continues to be very positive.” Correction to Allendale article from last week
