Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • March 13, 2013 Ho-Ho-Kus Jottings Club seeks candidates for scholarship The Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus will award one $2,000 scholarship to a high school senior from Ho-HoKus who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, noteworthy extracurricular involvement, and meaningful community service. Candidates must have lived in HoHo-Kus for at least one year prior to the application date. Applications, along with a high school transcript, personal statement, a guidance counselor’s statement, and two references must be submitted by April 17. Applications are available at Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, all local private school guidance departments, and at www.ccofhhk.com. Scouts host Pancake Breakfast, Food Drive On March 23, Ho-Ho-Kus Boy Scout Troop 54 will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast and Scouting for Food event at the Ho-Ho-Kus Community Church, 400 Warren Avenue. Ho-Ho-Kus Cub Scouts will deliver empty food bags to local homes over the next few weeks. The bags can be filled and left on front porches on March 23 before 9 a.m. The Scouts will be collecting the filled bags and transporting them to a local food bank. The food bags may also be brought to the Ho-Ho-Kus Community Church before 11 a.m. on March 23. While dropping off a food donation, be sure to have breakfast at the all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast available from 8 to 11 a.m. The cost for breakfast is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children under age 12. Contemporary Club sets parade The Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus will sponsor a parade featuring the Easter Bunny on Saturday, March 23 at 9:45 a.m. The parade will begin at the borough hall at 10 a.m. and will conclude at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School on Lloyd Road, where refreshments will be served. Activities will include a jellybean counting contest, games, face painting, and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny. Attendees are encouraged to bring a basket for the egg hunt. In the case of rain or snow, the events will be held s in the multi-purpose room of the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School at 10 a.m. Participants are required to wear rubber-soled shoes. The meeting will be held at 6:15 p.m. at Haviland Photography located at 22 Sheridan Avenue. The group will discuss plans for this year’s “Taste of HoHo-Kus.” On March 30, Chamber member American Eagle will present a Street Survival Self-Defense Seminar: “Two Master Instructors – Two Weapons – Two Hours of Defensive Tactics.” The program will be held 2 to 4 p.m. at 500 Barrett Place. Martial arts masters and weapons experts Phil Ross and Guy Velella will present this defensive tactics workshop on how to survive gun and knife attacks. Attendees will train in the proper situational responses to various attack scenarios. Ross and Velella have over 70 years of combined training and real life experience. Association announces registration The Ho-Ho-Kus/Saddle River Recreational Soccer Association will hold in-person registration for the fall 2013 soccer season on Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School multi-purpose room at 70 Lloyd Road. The program is open to Ho-Ho-Kus and Saddle River children who will be entering grades one through 12 in September 2013.
