Chamber plans meeting The Allendale Chamber of Commerce will meet at Mezza Luna, 96 West Allendale Avenue in Allendale, on March 12. The luncheon meeting will begin at noon. Fashion Show set; sponsors sought The Allendale Woman’s Club will host its Spring Fashion Show, “Spring Promise,” at Seasons in Washington Township on April 3. The evening will feature a cocktail reception and gourmet dinner, prize gift baskets, and fashions presented by The Figleaf. This year’s event will benefit Family Promise of Bergen County. Family Promise is the only organization in the county helping working families overcome temporary homelessness. Orientation offered to parents A kindergarten orientation for parents of children who will be entering kindergarten at Hillside School in September will be held on Thursday, March 7 in the Hillside School all-purpose room. The program, which will begin at 7 p.m., is designed to provide an overview of the Hillside kindergarten program and curriculum. (Snow date: March 14.) Kindergarten registration will take place March 18 for pupils whose last names begin with A through M, and March 19 for those with last names that begin with N through Z. Registration will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hillside School. (Snow dates for registration will be March 25 and 26.) The following documents must be presented at the time of registration: proof of child’s birth date, such as a birth
or baptismal certificate or passport; a copy of the child’s immunization history; and proof of residency, which may include a copy of a lease or contract, driver’s license, utility bill, etc. In order to be eligible for kindergarten, children must be five years old by Oct. 1 of the year they are enrolling in school. All children entering kindergarten must have a physical dated after Jan. 1, 2013, and all immunizations must be up to date as required by the State of New Jersey. Fyke announces events Fyke Nature Association will host a woodcock watch at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in Basking Ridge on March 9. The group will meet in the Heronry parking lot at Great Swamp at 4 p.m. Attendees should bring a light snack to enjoy while the group waits for sunset. Join Wheeler on this nature safari and travel from the rugged mountains of the state’s northwest to the salt marshes of Cape May. The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. Guild to meet The Bergen Chapter of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America will meet March 11 at the Red Barn at Guardian Angel Church, 320 Franklin Turnpike in Allendale. Robert Tonner will discuss doll design. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the public is welcome to attend. Northern Highlands presents ‘Legally Blonde: The Musical’ Northern Highlands Regional High School will present “Legally Blonde: The Musical” from March 7 through 10 at the high school located at 298 Hillside Avenue in Allendale.
This romantic comedy is about knowing who you are and showing what you’ve got. Performances will be held March 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. On March 9, a matinee will be presented at 2 p.m. and an evening performance at 7 p.m. A Sunday matinee will be performed on March 10 at 2 p.m. Tickets for reserved seating are $17 for adults and $12 for students and senior citizens. AFEE plans annual fundraiser The Allendale Foundation for Educational Excellence, Inc. will host its 18th Annual Auction on Friday, March 15 at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel. This year’s event will feature mystery board prizes, prize baskets, a cash prize contest, and an auction. All proceeds directly benefit enrichment programs and innovative technology for Allendale’s public schools. Tickets are $75 per person and include dinner, wine, beer, and dancing. Contact Lisa Monard at (201) 236-9844. AFEE Super Fundraiser tickets on sale The Allendale Foundation for Educational Excellence, Inc. is selling tickets for its annual Super Fundraiser. Participants could win up to $25,000 in cash prizes. Only 500 tickets will be sold. First prize is 80 percent of winning share, second prize is 16 percent, and third prize is four percent. Winners will be named at AFEE’s auction on March 15 and do not need to be present. Tickets are $100 each and may be purchased by mailing a check payable to AFEE to: AFEE, P.O.
