(continued from page 17) “I will continue to support this process so that our students continue to receive the best education possible with the most dedicated staff possible,” Monaco said. Noting that decreasing state funding has forced the district “to make some tough decisions with regard to programming,” Monaco said that she is “committed to keeping the needs of the students in mind when making these tough decisions in the future.” During her six years on the board, Monaco has served on several committees including Policy, Curriculum, Technology, Special Education (chairperson), Building and Grounds and Negotiations. A 17-year resident, Monaco holds a bachelor of arts degree from Villanova University. She has two children. Dr. Dominic Novelli Dr. Novelli, also seeking his third term, is currently “on loan” from the County of Bergen to the Bergen County Improvement Authority (BCIA), serving as the Special Assistant to the Executive Director, the Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA) and Public Agency Compliance Officer (PACO). He is also an adjunct professor of public administration at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). Also citing cuts in state aid, rising costs and the limits imposed by a 2 percent cap, Dr. Novelli said the board addressed a myriad of concerns for the district, while always remaining “ever mindful of the need to control our portion of the local property tax bill and protect residents from unruly tax increases.” He added he still believes “that we must remain steadfast in our mission of continuing to provide the very best education possible for all of our students. Working with our talented and dedicated teachers, administrators, and staff – the Waldwick Board of Education is in a great position to see that our mission is achieved, perpetually, today and well into the future,” he said. Dr. Novelli chairs the board’s buildings and grounds committee and is past chairman of the finance committee. He has also served on the negotiations and curriculum committees and serves as the board’s liaison to the B.C. School Boards Association. He holds a Doctorate in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore, a Master of Administration Science Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) from Fordham University. He and his wife, Michele, have two daughters who attend Waldwick schools and are parishioners of St. Luke’s Church.
