June 5, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 9 Allendale Allendale Police Detective John Mattiace and PO Terry Lawler have been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Both officers took their oaths of office at the last Allendale Council meeting. Mattiace has served the police department for 24 years, including 18 as detective. He has numerous commendations and awards for arrests, investigations, and providing assistance to other agencies. He has served as liaison to many county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and participated in multi-jurisdictional drug and burglary task forces. Lawler has served for 19 years in patrol and is also highly decorated. He has served with the Bergen County Arson Task force for nine years, and been the department’s information technology officer, coordinator for county, state, and federal data systems, crime reporting officer, and deputy emergency management coordina- Department welcomes sergeants, acknowledges officers tor. He is a member of the Bergen County Arson Task Force. The department also recognized its officers and communications personnel for their actions during and after Hurricane Sandy. Allendale Police Chief George Scherb presented the officers with a unit citation for their work and the care they provided to the residents of Allendale. Those who received the unit citation included Sgt. Todd Griffith, Brad Stio, Sgt. Joseph Carey, Ken Marcoux, Sgt. Mattiace, Victor Bartoloma, Sgt.
