July 17, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 7 Waldwick Residents recognized Husband and wife team Perry Quaranta and Andrea Mistretta of Waldwick are recipients of The Amsterdam Film Festival’s Van Gogh Award presented to Quaranta for production and editing and to Mistretta for art consultancy for the independent film ‘Golden Illuminations.’ The film was written and directed by John Fitzsimmons Mahoney. It deals with the cerebral aspects of the physical sport of basketball and delves into understanding its dimensions of spirit, mind, and body to help maximize both players’ results and spectators’ appreciation of one of the world’s most popular sports. Concerned about the additional school traffic during school drop off and pick up times that will be generated by all-day kindergarten sessions scheduled to go into effect in September, Waldwick town officials are making traffic-related changes in the Crescent School area. The council last week introduced an ordinance that restricts parking, allows for proper loading zones for the pick up and discharge of students and prohibits U-turns on Gateway Court, which borders the south side of the elementary school. The additional regulations are intended to “help ease traffic congestion, maximize the efficiency of the roadway, and provide a safer environment for motorists, students and residents,” according to the proposed ordinance. Traffic changes proposed for all-day kindergarten The changes were recommended by Police Lt. Edward Weber following field observations and consultation with Gateway Court residents and school officials. The ordinance, which amends several sections of the traffic ordinance, will have a public hearing on July 23. It would prohibit parking along Gateway Court from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, except by permit for residents only (residents would be issued stickers). It would also establish a loading zone on the north side of Gateway, from the kindergarten entrance to the end of the street, and would prohibit U-turns, except at the cul-de-sac at the end of Gateway Court.
