Super Bowl Sunday Hoagie Sale set The Waldwick Music Parents Association is holding its annual Super Bowl Sunday Hoagie Sale to benefit the music program at Waldwick High School. The cost is $7, and hoagies will be delivered on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Students from the performing arts programs will be accepting orders for the sandwiches through Feb. 3. Orders may also be placed by sending an email to WaldwickMusicParents@hotmail.com or by calling Ginny Rago at (201) 612-9680. Nursery school hosts Open House The Ho-Ho-Kus/Waldwick Cooperative Nursery School will host Open Houses on Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Feb. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. Parents and their preschoolers are invited to stop in to see the classrooms and meet with the teachers and current co-op members. Classes for two-, three- and four-year-old children and Mommy & Me, open to children 18 to 24 months old, are available for the 2013-14 school year. The nursery school offers various educational enrichment programs, including music and foreign languages. Extended day options are also available. The school provides a unique co-op opportunity for parents who wish to assist in their child’s classroom. Parents may also choose non-participating co-op status. School seeks prize donations Crescent School will host a Disco Tech Ball fundraiser at Portobello Banquets in Oakland on April 4. The event will feature dinner, dancing, prize baskets, and an auction. Tickets are $75. The event committee is seeking donations of products and services for the basket prizes and auction. Business owners or individuals interested in making a donation to
the benefit may contact Julie Fuccilli at (201) 857-4235. All proceeds will benefit the students and teachers at Crescent School. Register for kindergarten Registration for the September 2013 full-day kindergarten program in Waldwick Public Schools will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 9 a.m. at Julia A. Traphagen School and at Crescent School. To be eligible for the September 2013 full-day kindergarten class, children must be five on or before Oct. 1, 2013. Parents or guardians must bring the following to registration: a child’s birth certificate or other proof of age, and two documents to prove residency. Acceptable proofs of residency include utility bills with name and address, and a lease, deed, or tax bill for the residence. Proof of a completed physical and eye examination after Sept. 1, 2012, and written documentation of the month, day, and year of all required immunizations must also be brought to registration. Students entering Waldwick’s full-day kindergarten will be screened in the spring. Registration forms are available on the district’s website, www.waldwick.k12.nj.us, under each school’s website. Parents of private school kindergarteners who are planning to attend Waldwick Public Schools for first grade in September 2013 are also asked to register their children by Jan. 25, 2013. Lacrosse registration open Registration for the Waldwick Lacrosse Association’s spring season is under way. This competitive program is open to boys and girls in grades three through eight, and will run from April 1 through mid-June. The cost for the program is $110 and does not include equipment. Children in kindergarten through grade two are invited to participate in Fiddlestix. This instructional session focuses on the basics of the game: throwing, catching,
and scooping. Fiddlestix is a six-week program held on the Waldwick High School turf field. The cost is $50 and includes a stick, ball and T-shirt. WCA announces vacation contest fundraiser The Waldwick Community Alliance is offering tickets for its Dream Vacation Contest. Participants may purchase tickets at $20 each for an opportunity to win $3,000 toward a dream vacation anywhere in the world. This opportunity is being co-sponsored with Kallman Travel Services of Waldwick. The winner will be announced at 7:30 p.m. on April 28 at VFW Post 1049 located at 7 Hewson Avenue in Waldwick. Area artist to exhibit Waldwick resident Bob Rizzotti will exhibit his original oil paintings at The Ridgewood Library through Jan. 30. Rizzotti’s exhibit includes colorful sunrises, sunsets, and landscapes of many U.S. states and European countries. The paintings will be available for sale and a portion of all sales will benefit the library, which is located at 125 North Maple Avenue in Ridgewood. The fee is $16 for a spayed/neutered dog or cat, and $19 for an unaltered pet. Applications are available at www.waldwickpd.org under municipal forms. All licenses and tags will be mailed to the resident’s home.
