Republican council candidates sought Two Allendale Council seats will be available this year, and candidates for the June primary election are now being sought. Prospective candidates may apply for the endorsement of the Allendale Republican Organization by contacting Bob Pash at Allendale.repubpc@gmail.com before Feb. 20. Interested candidates should provide a brief biography and statement as to their interest and qualifications for a council seat. Applicants must be registered Republicans in order to be considered at the annual convention of the Allendale Republican Organization. Board of education to meet The Allendale Board of Education will meet on Monday, Jan. 28. The meeting will be held at 8 p.m. in the Brookside School Library located at 100 Brookside Avenue. Auxiliary sets Wine Tasting benefit The Allendale Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host its Seventh Annual Wine Tasting at Park and Orchard Restaurant in East Rutherford on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. Admission is $60 per person, which includes a sampling of an extensive assortment of red and white wines and a generous selection of hot and cold appetizers. An auction and other “pre-Super Bowl” activities are planned for the afternoon. Allendale is one of 16 auxiliary branches in the area. Each branch independently raises funds to support The Valley Hospital Auxiliary’s pledge to The Valley Hospital. The current pledge of $1.5 million will benefit two critical programs at the hospital: expansion of the breast surgery program at the Luckow Pavilion, and support for Butterflies, an in-home pediatric palliative and hospice care program. Fashion Show set; sponsors sought The Allendale Woman’s Club will host its Spring Fashion Show, “Spring Promise,” at Seasons in Washington Township on April 3. The evening will feature a cocktail reception and gourmet dinner, prize gift baskets, and fashions presented by The Figleaf. Tickets are $70 and are available by contacting Maureen Mamunes at (201) 248-8240 or AWCFashionShow@gmail. com. This year’s event will benefit Family Promise of Bergen County. Family Promise is the only organization in the county helping working families overcome temporary homelessness. The Fashion Show Committee is seeking sponsors, ads for the show’s program, and donations of prizes. Becoming a sponsor, placing a message of support in the program, or donating goods or services for the basket giveaway will aid families in the area and catch the attention of over 450 show attendees. Instruction by dealers will be offered to new players. Prizes will be awarded. The cost is $75 per person and formal attire is optional.
