Eighth graders exhibit artwork Eighth graders from the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School are displaying their paintings at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library during January. The library is located at 91 Warren Avenue. In February, the seventh graders will exhibit their work. Rubino to address gardeners Chris Rubino, northeast sales manager for Monrovia Growers, discusses the best new plants at the Ho-Ho-Kus Garden Club’s Jan. 28 meeting. The program will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus, 400 Warren Avenue. Rubino is a graduate of Cornell University. His presentation will include information about improved plant varieties that are bred to be more pest and disease-resistant or have improved characteristics, such as increased flower or fruit production. Register for kindergarten The Ho-Ho-Kus Public School will hold kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year on Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration will be held in the library of the school, which is located at 70 Lloyd Road in Ho-Ho-Kus. Incoming kindergartners must be five years old on or before Oct. 1, 2013. Those registering children will need to bring proof of the child’s birth date in the form of a birth certificate and two proofs of residency. Proofs may include a copy of the deed to your home or a fully executed rental lease and a copy of a utility bill. For additional information, call (201) 652-4555. Council announces ‘combination’ meeting The Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Council will hold a combined work session and public session on Jan. 22. The meeting will be held at 8 p.m. at borough hall, 333 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. Rabies clinic announced, pet licenses available The Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Health will offer its annual free Rabies Clinic on Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Ambulance Corps Building located at 55 Sycamore Avenue. The clinic will be open from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Beginning this month, pet licensing for 2013 is available at borough hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily or by mail with a self-addressed, stamped envelope. The fees are as follows: $15 for an altered pet, and $18 for a non-altered pet. Beginning March 1, a $10 late fee will be charged. Pet owners are reminded electronic pet containment devices must be registered with the borough. Homeowners must obtain a permit prior to the installation of any new pet containment system. Owners of existing units and new owners must obtain and display the proper sign as per the borough’s ordinance. Signs are available at borough hall.
