Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • January 16, 2013 Ho-Ho-Kus This month, Gordon Hamm will be sworn in as captain of the Ho-Ho-Kus Ambulance Corps, succeeding long-time captain Carol Tyler. Tyler will continue to serve as the organization’s president. As captain, Hamm will oversee the operations of the corps. His responsibilities will include training, scheduling, budgeting, organizing fundraisers, and recruiting members. “It’s another new challenge,” Hamm told Villadom TIMES. “I have enjoyed my participation so far.” Hamm joined the ambulance corps as a driver in 2009 while he was still a member of the Ho-Ho-Kus Council. He then became an emergency medical technician, and was subsequently promoted to crew chief, and then to lieutenant. He is one of the borough’s three rescue/rappelling EMTs. In addition to serving two terms on the borough council, he has been a member of the Ho-Ho-Kus Planning Board, and has coached local baseball and soccer teams. Hamm is president of the Athletic Association and president of the board of the Youth Recreation Commission. Hamm has been a partner and CEO of Garage Management Corporation, a Manhattan-based parking and real estate concern, for over 23 years. He is also a partner in several real estate ventures and restaurants, including the Red Rooster, Blue Parrot, Ho-Ho-Kus Inn & Tavern, August, PJ Clarkes, and Sidecar. He is a co-founder of Kidville NY, a child care center that has expanded worldwide. In addition, he is vice president of the Metropolitan Parking Association and a trustee overseeing the welfare/pension fund for the Teamsters Local 272. He also sits on various co-op and condo boards in New York City. Hamm is a member of the New York Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization and a member of the foundation board of directors at Bergen Community College Foundation in Paramus. He also serves on the board at the Community Resource Council in Hackensack. His community service has earned him a Certificate of Special recognition from Congress and the Senate, the Dr. Harry Brandeis Memorial Community Service Award, and a Certificate of Commendation from the Gordon Hamm Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Hamm and his wife Laurie have also received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Hermitage Foundation. In his leisure time, he enjoys skiing, boating, fishing, scuba diving, and traveling the eastern shore. J. She was elected to the one-year unexpired term in 2011, and has now won her first full three-year term. Nye grew up in Ho-Ho-Kus and graduated from the Ho-Ho-Kus School. She then graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy, the University of Virginia, Fordham Law School, and the NYU School of Law. In addition to serving on the school board, Nye is also an active member of both the Ho-Ho-Kus Education Foundation and the HSA. She is a Tic-Toc Art Docent and a library and LEAP volunteer. She is a Girl Scout leader and a CCD teacher and former board member of the Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus. This year marked the firs time the school board reorganized in January. Last year, the board opted to follow a new state law that allowed school boards to move their elections to the date of the general election. Boards that moved their elections to November were also allowed to forego a public vote on the school budget as long as the district’s spending plan remained at or below the state-mandated cap. J.
