Volunteers sought The volunteer nursing home outreach program, Growing Relationships and Making Memories, is seeking volunteers to form relationships with socially isolated nursing home residents. Many nursing home residents have no one to visit them. Similar to a Big Brother/Big Sister philosophy, GRAMM builds individual relationships through activities such as sharing stories, playing games, reading, watching sports/ television, sitting outside, writing letters, or just offering companionship. GRAMM is seeking volunteers who can visit one hour a week for eight weeks. The program is held at the Allendale
Nursing Home in Allendale. Call Maryann Greco at (201) 934-6174 or e-mail gramm07@verizon.net. DePippo Farm development
(continued from page 3) “I think this new proposal is good for the municipality,” said Kratz. “Having the site in limbo is a detriment to the neighbors. Finishing the project will provide finality, site improvements will be done, and 30 housing units with new residents will be in place.” The new construction will be on the still undeveloped 3-acre westerly end of the old farm site near Pineview Drive and Durante Road. Hovnanian’s revised plans propose to reduce the pitch of the roof so that each building’s elevation is 30 ft. above grade instead of the 32 ft. originally proposed. Borough ordinances limit the building height to 35 ft. above grade. Hovnanian’s rejected proposal, which drew heavy opposition from neighbors, included three-story buildings with no basements, and provided each unit with a deck on the second floor and a two-car garage and a wider driveway.
