January 9, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 15 Ho-Ho-Kus Jottings Register for kindergarten The Ho-Ho-Kus Public School will hold kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year on Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration will be held in the library of the school, which is located at 70 Lloyd Road in Ho-Ho-Kus. Incoming kindergartners must be five years old on or before Oct. 1, 2013. Those registering children will need to bring proof of the child’s birth date in the form of a birth certificate and two proofs of residency. Council announces ‘combination’ meeting The Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Council will hold a combined work session and public session on Jan. 22. The meeting will be held at 8 p.m. at borough hall, 333 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors to meet Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors will meet on Jan. 8 at the education center at the Hermitage located at 335 North Franklin Turnpike. The group meets at noon on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month and plans special programs and trips. Beverages and desserts are served at noon, and programs begin at 1 p.m. Residents age 55 and up are welcome to attend. Ghost lecture and cocktail party set The Ho-Ho-Kus Inn & Tavern will host “Dead of Winter,” a ghost lecture and cocktail party with author, psychic, and ghost investigator Craig McManus. McManus will guide guests on a paranormal journey and share his experiences. He will also present a slide lecture. McManus will be available at the conclusion of the evening to sign copies of his books. The event will feature hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and a Viennese dessert buffet. Club plans Bridge Marathon The Ho-Ho-Kus Woman’s Club invites bridge players to take part in the club’s Bridge Marathon. This edition is a revision of the 1975 “Ho-Ho-Kus Hostesses” cookbook. The updated version contains favorite recipes, some of which are over 100 years old, from residents, past and present U.S. Presidents, the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn, and the Hermitage. Rabies clinic announced, pet licenses available The Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Health will offer its annual free Rabies Clinic on Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Ambulance Corps Building located at 55 Sycamore Avenue. The clinic will be open from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Beginning this month, pet licensing for 2013 is available at borough hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily or by mail with a self-addressed, stamped envelope. The fees are as follows: $15 for an altered pet, and $18 for a non-altered pet. Beginning March 1, a $10 late fee will be charged. Pet owners are reminded electronic pet containment devices must be registered with the borough. Homeowners must obtain a permit prior to the installation of any new pet containment system. Owners of existing units and new owners must obtain and display the proper sign as per the borough’s ordinance. Signs are available at borough hall. Police accept Reverse 911 updates Ho-Ho-Kus Police Chief John Wanamaker reminds residents who are not currently on the borough’s Reverse 911 list to call the police desk at (201) 652-1700 to have their contact information added. Anyone with a change of information or a new phone number is invited to call. The borough’s Reverse 911 system allows the municipality to relay important information to residents via telephone. While many residents’ home numbers are listed as part of the Reverse 911 system, citizens also have the option of registering their cell phone numbers so they may receive messages when they are away from home. Story time program expanded The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, located at 91 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus, has added a 3:15 p.m. Thursday session to its children’s story time program. This new story time will be held in addition to the programs scheduled on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11:45 a.m. The program is recommended for children ages three and up.
